Title: Integral guard bowie WIP
Post by: LONGBOWKID on December 09, 2011, 05:49:00 PM
Trying a few new things with this one. My first integral guard done this way, and also my first tapered tang. Not quite sure about handle plans yet. It will get a full flat grind when I get my new belts ordered.

I would like some input on the overall profile.

Thanks for looking,

Brandon

I like it Brandon!  I'm interested to see how you approach the finger guard!

Dana,

Thanks. It was a pain to keep it evenly tapered.

Steve,

I am also interested in how I am going to approach it. LOL. I have several ideas in my head, one is just leaving it as it is, and bringing the scales up to it, similar to some of Serge Penchenko's work. I have also contemplated bolsters shaped to the guard. I suppose it's something I am going to have to sleep on. I knew what I wanted to do with it up until this point, now I'm just sort of blank.

I'm up for some suggestions on how to finish the guard if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks,

Brandon
