Title: New D2 "Palmach Blade" started today.....
Post by: highpoint forge on November 27, 2011, 04:11:00 PM
This is a D2 steel blade, 12" overall and 8" blade, and I am using the stock reduction method to craft it. Handles will be rough sanded Micarta for maximum grip. Pommel will protrude .25" past handle to serve as a striking point. No guard. I will jimp the topside of the handle. Sheath could be leather or Kydex at this point. Here's the progression thus far:

paper design....

Cut out on metal bandsaw and grind to rough shape......

Gonna try to get more done before the  game starts.

Thanks for taking the additional time for this.  Sounds like it will be a nice one.  Can't wait for more.

I'm finalizing the handle design and I drilled the lanyard hole at the pommel. I also will media blast the blade. Just hung it up in the shop for my next visit to my father in-law's shop and family property. He is expanding his shop again with a 35x35 building with full bath and a second level. Can't wait!
