Post by: DANA HOLMAN on November 15, 2011, 08:48:00 AM
Hey guys, Can any one tell me how to make a clamshell finger guard? Im making a dagger and thought it would look good with this type of guard. Ive looked all over the internet and there is not much, Ive looked at Lin's and think i can do it, but i want to make sure i go in the right direction. Thanks for any help

Here is a link on a clamshell butt cap that might help.

Dana, I use a small triangle file and sand paper. When choosing files, I look close at the edges to see if they will cut a sharp angle. Some have a small flat right on the edge. That's not good for this application. Go slow, think small and you'll see it coming together.  Be sure to provide enough clearance for the index finger on bottom.
