Title: New knife

just finished this one. Not sure if I like how big the top of the handle is but thats how it turned out any thoughts?

You need to work on the proportion of the handle to the proportion of the blade. I would file or grind the handle down to a usable shape.  If you get into the pith you can fill the hollows with thin super glue or an epoxy and sand it for a smooth finish.  You have made a good start on the knife.  Some finishing steps on the handle will make a usable knife.

I think that if you'd inserted the blade on the other side of the antler, it would have reduced the need for more work.

Do you have a picture of the fitting of blade to antler?

I am sure there is a market for that shiv in the prison system.  Good for stabbing.  X2 on RF's comment.  I think you should trim the handle a bit to match the blade.  Nice solid looking piece of antler.

I agree with Svein and Raganorke forge.  Although I'm not a knife builder yet, the beauty is you dnt have to stoop at one and there is always room to improve.

Lots of good advice so far. Keep us posted on your progress and future projects.
