Seems like every time I get in the same room with Joe Keeslar I get this "infection" and need to come back home and make a Brut de Forge.
It's a disease.
So, I came up with the "Samurai Hunter"!
A traditional wrapped handle with ray skin under-lay, but with a clipped hunter profile on a 1095 blade with a hamon.
With a mirror polished spine and clip.
And I do believe she's gettin' a Kydex sheath!
Confusing.

That's one of the mystical "secrets" of the Samurai.
;)
WOW Karl, absolutely amazing. You just keep kicking it up a notch with every knife you show us. What are the dimensions?

I thought this one was kicking it DOWN a notch!
I'm not sure how to measure this, but the portion of the blade that can be sharpened is 5 3/4", and she's 10 1/2" overall.
Dang! Beautiful work!!!!!
Nice Karl!
Cool detail on the flaired finger guard in so far as they are usually smooth, where you kept some texture!
I don't know how to say fantastic in Japanese!

Ah yes.. the 'samurai secret'.. your samurai has been swimming in the pool right? :-)
Awesome knife.
It looks like the perfect knife for hunting samurais!
AH! the swimming pool!
Thank you grasshoppers.

Chuck, I have these little abrasive wheels I use on the drill press, but they don't have a name on them.
They're sort of like wire wheels, but have fiber strands on them instead of wire.
I don't even remember where I got them.
Don't know what I'll do when I wear them out!
Thanks Karl.I really like the wrought look in some of the knives guys post up on here. This one looks mighty fine being all cleaned up. I love the finger guard.
Does it have a home?
Neat knife, Karl. I always worry about all the gunk that would get trapped in the handle material of a knife like that, but it sure looks neat. Love the Keeslar style.

Allan, three ways of going about it:
1.) Brush the entire handle with a marine epoxy. Then there's not too much to worry about, but I'm not particularly fond of the visual.
2.) That wrap cost $.15/ft. Just re-wrap it.
3.) Don't get it dirty.

Got adopted last night. Moving to Houston.
:notworthy: :notworthy: Awesome, truly awesome.
Don't get it dirty? That's a solution? Good luck with that!!!! Actually, solution number 4 for me would be to look at the photographs of that beautiful "Samurai" knife, and since it is already sold anyway, just get you to build something similar that has some gorgeous handle slabs that I'm certain you could fit on the full tang. Those I could clean up! I do love the Keeslar style, and you do it well.
