Title: jantz blanks
Post by: giff on August 31, 2011, 04:14:00 PM
I am thinking about making some knives and was just wondering why jantz is so cheap compared to other places. I just want to make sure I get good steel that will hold an edge.

From the feedback I received via email from Jantz, " the majority of our blades are made in Japan but we have some made in Norway and also here in the states".  As to the quality, I'll let you know.  I'm working on a couple hunting knives for my brothers and a chef's knife I'm doing for my wife.

The blades from Norway are the Helle blades, they are very good blades.

I've used some of their japanese stainless blades. Never had a complaint.

I've used two blades---their Texas Bowie and a much smaller one that I made into a neck knife.  I think they are very good and their blades are a bargain.
