Title: Kitchen Blade Source?
Post by: SveinD on August 17, 2011, 06:08:00 PM
My folks' birthdays are coming up, and they've been wanting a good Santoku knife with indentations.

So far, the only two I've found was from Jantz, but they've discontinued theirs, and Texas Knife. The Tex Knives are from AUS-8 steel, and I was looking for a little better quality/budget than 15$ for a blade.. Around 50-120$ will probably get a far better blade.

Do you guys know a source of these style blades?
I checked some European sites and the big auction one, but no luck.. A lot of Santoku-style, but not with indentations, which is what they want.

If you can help me out, I promise to post pics, and write your name on the birthdaycards along with me and the missus   :p

-Thanks, SveinD-

Edit: I just need the blade, handle and stuff I will do myself  ;)

I bought a few from Jantz Supply in Davis Oklahoma several years ago I thought they were quality knives and they are nice people to deal with.  I think they have an online Catalog you can look at or at least get a contact # and they will send you a catalog free.

If you want high end then you should look at the vg-10 chefs blades at jantz.

Yep, but they have only one with grooves/indentations, and that one's discontinued..

I'm sure I have checked almost everywhere, and there are no-one on the Internet that sells that kind of blade..
Guess I'm gonna have to go for one without the grooves..
