if i would purchse an oven that went to 2200 degrees what types of metal could i use to make knives. would like to broaden my horizons. thank you jackie
A bunch. About any of the carbon steels.
The most commonly used stainless steels as well.
A large burnout oven for jewelry casting with programable heat setting works great. 2200 is easy temp to acheieve.....The steels are what you decide on pretty much..Remember the carbon steels are the easiest to work, But rust! With the modern equipment we have available the stainless steels are just about as easy and last and last. Get just as sharp and will hold the edge longer..and low maintenance....rather shoot my bow than oil my knife.
