Back some time ago , I was in touch with a customer of mine in France who knows a knifemaker in Belgium. He introduced us and one thing led to another and here is a collaboration between us. Sam is 33 years old and dont speak much English and I dont speak French, so it's been an adventure, to say the least. He forged the blade and sent it to me, then I heat treated it and hand finished it and got it ready for the guard and handle. I then sent the finished blade back to him and he built the guard and handle. It turned out well I think. This is the one Terry Green made mention of in his earlier thread. The blade is about 9 1/2 inches so you get an idea of what a hand full it is.

Yep...not much of a 'big knife' fan either....but this one really did get my attention...not only in looks, but in the hand. Man at the balance.
Thanks for sharing Lin!
that just Outstanding
Wowzer!!!
Man!!!
That gives me goosebumps just looking at it!
What wood is in the handle? Stabilized cocobolo?
Lin, the spacers look different, I know one is SS but what is the black one made of? It looks rounded, or it maybe my iPhone that's makes it that way
thanks
Dana
Thanks.
Dana, the groove is filed in with a round file and blackened. I did not ask Sam, I am assuming that is what he did since that is how I would do it.
The wood is Desert Ironwood
Yet another beauty from Lin.
That is a beauty Lin.
Dang Lin, don't get no sweeter than that!
Just when you think they can't get any better....
Another Beauty!! Lin how do you blacken SS?
Lin, It turned out waaaay more than "well". Beautiful knife! It also feels good to know that you're reaching out to other makers outside of the good ol' USA. Mike O.
Thanks guys.
Jeff, Caswell makes a stainless steel blackener. Sounds crazy, but it works pretty good.
It looks awesome. I tried to imagine what it would look like finished when I saw it at your house. My imagination is not even close to getting things as perfect as you and Mr. Lurkin can skillfully craft. Well done, indeed.
