ive used lacquer and linceat oil but it turnes out dry and faded looking. what would work better any help greatly appreciated.
I've never used anything on Micarta. Just sand it to about 800 or 1000 grit and buff.
I do the same as Clarence.
There is no need for a finish on micarta. I also just buff it.
However, I occaisionally sandblast the handle, which gives it a very sure and sticky grip...and very dull. Linseed oil will bring out the color without compromising the grip.

you guys are "fancy" taking it to 1000 grit and buffing. I leave mine at about 220 (worn) grit , so it has some "texture" when you use it, especially when it gets wet.
I'm not a big fan of texture on micarta as it contributes to blisters if you use it much. I think most people mess up micarta by getting it toohot when sanding and making it cloudy. Every type we have used will buff to a mirror shine, if you care to take it there.
