Hey guys, since it is so cold and nasty out I'm sitting at the old puter trying to work on some stuff to get sent out to you all. Right now I'm up to the chow list and need your help on this one.
Each guy is gonna be responsible for 1 days worth of meals for the group. (6 hunters and 1 non-hunter). What are you gonna do for your day? Here is the guideline:
Good breakfast
Light lunch (don't want to get too loaded to sit on stand)
Hearty supper after huntin.
Here is my list
Bacon,sausage,fried taters and eggs
Soup or Stew with cornbread
Grilled porterhouse steaks and spuds
up
Chocolate cake. You have to have chocolate cake somewhere in there. You better hope Deadhorse don't see this thread.Deadhorse likes chocolate cake
LOL! Maybe one the guys confrmed on the hunt will jump on the cake thing. Sounds good to me.
Rick, Cary, Mike, Carl, Brad??????? Hey is this thing on?
Sorry LeRoy, just noticed the post!
I will be bringing my cast iron pans and my big dutch oven, dumpcakes( blueberry...mmmmmmm.) in my dutch are one of my specialties!
I will bring some good stuff, not sure yet but I have a long time to perfect my list! LOL I am gluten intolerant though( a side affect of having native blood!) and will bring a bunch of stuff to help me survive up there.
Kinda sucks that some of the stuff i can't eat, but that's life and we are gonna be too busy to worry bout small stuff.
Looking forward to it.
while we are on the topic, do you have any refences from the camp LeRoy, never saw a link to any on the website.
I wouldn't mind chatting with a few about the hunts.
BD
sorry, been away all weekend!!!
Breakfast, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs?
Lunch, how's about grilled turkey and cheese sammiches?
Supper, my wife's baked Ziti, and cheesy bread!!!
Big Dog, here's a link to Ituksum...
http://www.ituksum.net/index.html
Yeah, I was on there, they have no references that you can call, other hunters who have hunted there...
Just wondering if they had any.
BD
I am thinking an egg & sausage casserole with biscuits for breakfast, deer chops and ? for dinner, and not sure yet for lunch. A lot of time between now and then with a lot going on so there may well be changes by then.
Rick
Why am I hungry all of a sudden....
BD I'll get ahold of Tim this week and get you and the rest of the guys some References. Looks like we aint gonna starve anyway.
I'm still hungry...
I had to go snatch a couple cookies after catching up on the posts myself. I'm going to try to send out some info packets by the end of the week.
Look forward to getting the info.
Rick
I better get day one because I figured we'd just stop at the Golden Arches on the way in for a big bag to go. :bigsmyl:
Seriously, and this could change several times before we get there, but her goes:
Breakfast: Pancakes with bacon & sausage.
Lunch: grilled cheese sandwich and soup.
Dinner: Something on the grill. Grilled garlic potatoes. Sauteed mushrooms.
Sorry for the slow response, but having trouble with the wireless connection at home.
Carl
That'll work Carl.
Well, in my kid's opinion I make the best cast- iron eggs in the world! LOL
So I would be doing my normal big breakfast, eggs, hashbrowns, toast, bacon, sasuages and pancakes with some real Local Ontario maple syrup...the best there is!
so; how do ya like yer eggs fellas???
:bigsmyl: :campfire:
Over medium for me BD.
over medium it is ...have you guys ever had Ontario maple syrup???? MMMMMMMMMM......
BD
Yep It's GOOOOOOOD!!! I bring some back with me whenever I get up there.
Looks like I need to start a diet now!
A bowhunting buddy makes mine for me, he does it the old way, wood fire and boil, boil, boil....
Awful darned good though!
Might be good to bring an extra bottle to spruce up the baits, might be an unfair advantgage though!
BD :bigsmyl: :campfire:
I'm with yopu Rick. Better drop a few pounds now so we can eat everthing at camp. Cary Bring an xtra bottle of that syrup for me will ya?!?!?!?
For you to eat? or for you to get anunfair advantage with??? LOL
I was thinking of doing up a big batch of Hawaian hotdogs in my dutch oven, serve over a bed of rice, MMMMMMMMMM...... :)
More like to bring home with me. Hawaian hot dogs?? Sounds interesting Buddy. I was thinking of saving up all my bacon grease from now til we go to use as an unfair advantage along with 5 gallons of mollasses.
I'll see if I can get Mike to make me an extra bottle or 2 this time.
Molasses and dog food...great stuff! along with a sterno and a honey burn.
BD
Add 1 bow
1-550 grain snuffer tipped arrow
1 Short Profuse blood trail

Dang it, now I'm REALLY hungry!!!!
Hang in there Brad!
TTT
Good news! ( depending how you look at it...)
Enviroment Canada is calling for the driest, hottest summer on record.
After the wettest fall on record, this will even things up.
It does mean though that the skeeter population up north will take a beating( good stuff for us Sept bearhunters!)
Also the berry crop will not be the best; this will mean that bears will be hitting baits real hard as a result
 :goldtooth:
which will make some very happy TG bearhunters!
BD
Fantastic News BD! Oh I can taste the bear bacon now!!!! YUM!
Yep! last year I guess you could have canoed in to the bait sites... ;) :p
this year will be nice, I'm bringing my thermacell anyways though; 'cause them northen skeeters are our Provincial bird up here!
they are big, they are nasty and they are legion.
I'm hoping the dry heat will crash and burn them quickly.
BD
I hear ya! I don't mind giving blood but not that way!
No doubt, good news, BD....hope them fellers are better at forecastin the weather than the folks down in these parts!!!!
Have Thermacell, will travel!!!
Good insurance Brad.
Ok guys I just got all of the info packets printed up and addressed. I'll be sending them out to you on Monday. Please keep in mind I'm not used to organizing a group deal like this. If you see anything I have left out please make note of it and let me know so I can inform the rest of the crew of any changes.
C'MON SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait to see what you boys kill up there. Sure wish i was going with ya.
In a way Chad you are going. After all I will be giving you daily reports to post for us.
Very true! I'm looking forward to getting the reports too.
Gonna be some good stories to tell I'm sure!
You guys are so lucky to go off chasing bears! Guess i will just have to go chase elk instead. LOL!
Maybe next time Jeff. But chasing elk won't be bad either.
