Title: Smartflix educational DVDs
Post by: Scott Roush on November 11, 2010, 04:22:00 PM
Has anybody checked out Smartflix?  It's kinda like Netflix but it has educational DVDs you can rent.  They have an enormous knife selection.

Has anybody used this? It's kind of expensive to rent, but still way cheaper than buying... not to say you shouldn't support the people who make em, but they must be getting something from this?

Anyway... I'm curious about what folks think...

I have been toying with the same idea, just have not pulled the trigger. My thought is to buy so that I can go back as needed.
My 2-cents.

ten bucks a week to rent...I'd think buying might be a better investment, as you could typically resell the video and have about the same amount invested but you could retain it long enough - longer than one week anyway- to be sure you had all the bases covered before you sold it.

well you can rent whatever or whenever you want... there is no monthly charge.  I just rented a documentary on African iron smelting for example..... no reason for me to watch it more than once and a lot cheaper than the $75 for buying it.   Anyway... seems like a good deal since you are under no obligation to rent anything or pay monthly fees.  There are also package deals for a whole set that comes out quite a bit cheaper than $10/week.

I've rent DVDs from them. Got them quick with no problem. If you like the DVD you can burn your own.
