Title: Fleshing Knife?????
Post by: nlester on November 08, 2010, 01:10:00 PM
Anyone out there ever made a fleshing knife?  I'm in need of one and was curious if anyone made em or had one they'd be willing to part with.  Thanks

Not answering your request but a simple discovery I found is that the lower jaw from a white tail makes a good fleshing tool.  I cut the jaw a couple inches back or the front teeth and epoxy it onto a bone or wood handle.  Those front teeth make a really good fleshing tool for smaller hides.  Probably a larger deer such as an elk or moose would make a larger scraper but I have not tried that.
