My next bow(Won't be til the end of the year if my wife has her way...) will be a recurve under 52". Even shorter if possible.
I like the looks of the wright and the little sucklings.
Those of you who have short 'curves, which do you have? how do they shoot? Do you have any numbers?
Of course, pictures are always great!
Stephen
Define short.
I have 2 Cascade Golden Hawk Magnums both 52" both had their grips modded to fit my small hands by Voodoofire1. I took a turkey from the ground with the gray one. They are not fast, but I hit where I look with them. I just got a 52" Toelke Recurve. It is super smooth, quick and extremely quiet. I will post some pictures soon as it is a beautiful bow.
Mine is a 52" Saluki Scythian , the bowyer Lukas Novotny makes this bow as short as 48".

Wooo pretty! I love the looks of that Saluki.
One day Rob, one day :D
Are those Salukis all wood bows or do they have glass limbs?
They are glass bows.

first is a Rodney Wright Stalker
second a Chek- mate Raven
third a Cascade Golden Hawk Mag.
all very smooth great shooting bow, stalker definately not made for longer draw lengths other two are ok. just my share of shorties...matt
Thanks all.
I have 3 old kodiak mags at 52" (45#,50# 50# )that I use for target shooting but plan on using them as blind bows in the near future.
wright has the stalker at i think 46in and the buffalo hunter at 48in im looking at getting one of his 54in firehawk longbows
I like a short bow but for me anything under 54"s is too critical of release. I myself anyway need to get a perfect release with a real short bow. I have a good release but not good enough, I think most short bows are tough to shoot due to this fact. Shawn
You should get in touch with Mark Baker. Those Sheepeater bows he and Brent are making are something else. I was around during the development of that bow and was impressed with how well they handle my draw length. You would sware its a kids bow till you see how it flings an arrow. Just look under the sponsors for Classic Bowhunting Co. They're great guys too.
Dan Toelke makes take-down curves from 52" up to 66", I think. I have a 56" t-d curve, walnut handle and juniper limbs.
I've got a 56" Dynasty Timber wolf that's real sweet, all Zebrawood and doesn't stack at my 30" draw................................Steve
I have a 48in bear mag, not the best shooter. I draw over 28 and it just cant handle it. Sounds like a 22 going off when I shoot it.
Check out Ron LaClairs Li'l Favorite.
I am sold on my Bear Cheyenne....shoots great for me, but I wish the glass was clear and had some nice wood under there....and less medalions and inserts....but as far as shooting, she's the best for me.
54 in. Thunderstick Ramhorn is as good a short bow as I have shot. Its so smooth on the draw.I had 1 and drew it 30 inches and it was very comfortable for a short bow.Had some pinch but other than that it was really nice.It would work at 28 as far as pinch goes pretty well.
I just checked on the Witchdoctor bow, and the wait is in fact 7 years and 1 day. There is a good chance that there will be a price increase, and the bowyer does require a 100% deposit.
I have a Cascade 52", can't shoot it as well as longer bows, but is nice short bow.
Not a recurve but here is my 54" Fedora Xtreme T/D longbow.

Here's my Shedua/Black Locust CM Raven 52"
Works well even with my 29+" Draw. Fun bow, but as has been pointed out, not super stable and may be more critical of release. Great treestand/brush bow though.

50 in. Browning Cobra 60@28, very quick little bow for its age and points very good for a very short bow, can shoot it as good as any of my curves out to 25 yds. Next is a 56 in. 66@28 Groves Mag I, very smooth and very quick, one of if not the best shooting recurves Ive shot out of a ton of customs.
i have a 1970s 48mag it gets hard on the fingers at about 26" but its a good shooting bow.
who makes the witchdoctor and why would you pay $5g for one??????
(ok never mind, don't answer that and yes I'm a gullable idiot :smileystooges: )
Just started shooting short bows last year, I have 2 older and 1 newer Kodiak mag, like em alot.
My 54" RidgeRunner TimberGhost. 48@27, chrono'd it with 515 grain arrows in the mid 170s.

I am my own worst enemy!!! But they are pretty bows. Some things just can't be bought. :knothead: :archer:
i have a samack horsebow#50 @28" shoots real nice sorry i cant put pics on as somthing wrong with camara or comput setting :banghead:
I have been shooting my 52" 60# Texas Commanche a lot lately in preparation for hunting turkeys from a blind this Spring. I much prefer my longbows but I need this short bow in the blind. I am not as consistant with it as I am my longbows but I'm making headway. Matter of factly, I think it is helping me to improve my overall shooting because I really have to pay attention to my release and all aspects of good marksmanship. For me, at least, it magnifies any shooting errors.

I have a Fedora 52" Stalker plain jane model. It is the only shortie I have shot so I can't really compare it to others. I can tell you however that it is great to carry. It feels like I should slip it into my back pocket it is so short. Brace height is important on these shorties in my experience with this one.
Is that WitchDoctor wait in people years or dog years?
They sure look purty... :wavey:
