This is the first "finished" integral ive made, ive forged several, but never gotten around to finishing one until now. This blade was actually forged over a year ago, just havent made the time to finish.
Any how, forged from a bar of 5/8" W-2, 7" blade, 11-7/8" overall, Ceylon Ebony handle. Fun to make, going to be doing more of them. Learned a bit making this one, the hardest part for me was figuring out a good way to grind them, specifically transitioning from the bar to the blade... tricky.

thanks guys, it was fun, have a big 9" integral Bowie/Fighter im going to finish... at some point after Christmas im going to make some integral hunters.
Awesome sweetness, Matt!
They are tons of fun and really make a fella use his head.
And, there are only a few materials/pieces used.
I'm about to go out and forge two right this minute!
That is stunning!
Great Job!
Matt, that's a beauty, those lines and finish are sweet!

Really, really nice!
thanks again guys, i enjoyed making this one. Will be making more especially when i get my power hammer set up. Right now im using one that is "borrowed" and I have to return it after the first of the year.
That wood is really nice looking. Almost like charcoal its so dark in the pics....love the hamon.
Really nice knife, Lamey.
Sweet knife Matt as always nice job!! I have not done a integral yet does it make you do this :help:
in some ways i find it alot easier to make, the hardest part is figuring out a good way to transition your grind from the plunge to the blade flat.
Im doing a 9" fighter now, grinding it flat on the platten with just a bit of belt overhang to make a radius. We will see how that one turns out.
Wow thats beautiful!! Love the looks of those integrals you and Karl have made. Skippy
Out standing work keep it up. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Knifemaker
great looking knife
Matt,
I really like a flat sided or at least an oval cross section to an integral. Yours is one of the slickest ones I've seen. Very nice. Lin
why thanks Lin, im going to do some more soon, just have to catch up on a bunch of Bowie orders!
