I am planning on making this knife show...March 6-8 in Clyde, NC. I'll be in Aiken, SC a few times this winter. When I saw that Joe Keeslar was to be one of the demonstrators and Clyde being about 3 + hours from Aiken, I couldn't resist. I emailed him about his "brut de forge" flared guard. He said he'd be happy to show me his technique. This is like goin' back for a post graduate degree in vet school. I'm really excited...Doc
Awesome Doc, your gonna love it! Now you just need to schedule time for the Big Sky Hammer-in in June :readit:

Then you can go on the road and teach it!

Stop by and pick me up on the way!
Can't make that one but I'm going to Batson's symposium near Birmingham the first weekend in April.
Just got my knife from Joe Keeslar that he auctioned to raise money for the Batson Symposium last year. He forged the blade at the symposium and auctioned it off with the agreement that he would finish it out into a knife when he got back from his summer in France. I kept the forged blade and sent it to him in the fall and I had the finished knife waiting yesterday when I got back from hunting in Alabama. I was surprised to get it back so fast considering he isn't making a penny on this deal since all the proceeds of the auction went to help run the symposium. Makes me want to turn around and head back to Alabama so I can get another deer to try it out on. Their season runs through Jan 31.
