Title: Garage Sale
Post by: TomMcDonald on September 19, 2008, 11:53:00 PM
Hello,
I just picked up all this for $100 from a garage sale down the road from me.

The big steel bowl is for a forge.
Wood is Jarrah.

I'm assuming your going to burn coal in it. I'm glad to see that, if it's available there. I really enjoy coal forging and look forward to seeing your setup after you get it all together.

What are your plans for assembly? Lin

Yes I was thinking that it would be a coal forge.
Did you assume that because of the size of the vessel?
The setup. I'm still going through this in my head actually. I was thinking about putting a smaller bowl into this one for where the fire itself will burn and having the bigger one as a chamber below it. I've got a hairdryer that's lost its heating element so I'll just use that as an air source.
I saw a nice wheelbarrow frame yesterday (iron or something) and thought it would be a nice touch to have everything in the mobile frame of a wheelbarrow.

Tom,
Yes, it just looks like something I would also use for a coal forge and about the right size. It sounds like you have a good plan. Be sure to post some more pics as you get it up and going. Lin

Lin,
I'll post pics in a new topic when I have it working or at least with some progress.
