Hello,
I have a Delta bandsaw. The other day I located a metal cutting blade that will fit it. Will this work to cut metal in my saw? or is my saw too fast?
Tommy
what rpm is it running?
I have looked all over that thing, but I have not been able to located the RPM anywhere.
I dont know if it will help, but it is only 2 years old and it is the plastic case $99 model sold at LOWES.
I just cut out another blade out of a saw blade with a dremel tool. That is the only part of knifemaking that I really dont like. Is it any easier to cut a blade out of annealed 1080 stock?
I dont anneal the whole saw blade before I cut one out. I cut out the blade and then anneal, bevel, shape and then re harden.
I hope to build a knife from some stock from a knife supplier one day. I have used up 2 1/2 saw blades so far. I have 2 1/2 more to go before I am out of circular saw blades. I need the practice before I buy some 1080 from a supplier.
However, I still will use any saw blade I can get my hands on. I get a trip out of making a knife out of an old saw blade and old black walnut that I have from a 80 year old barn that was torn down.
Its nice to see rusty tarnished metal and weathered wood that was considered junk to become something pleasing to the eye.

yes annealed stock is easier to cut than a saw blade. if it is a cheaper band saw then it should be a wood cutting saw which just means a higher rpm. i dont use a dremel to cut the blades, and since i cant really afford a band saw yet i bought a $30 angle grinder from harbor freight
