Just thought I would share the great trip I was blessed to share with my Wife Lois, as well as our two sons Jesse and Joey. To spend time with your sons hunting elk in the mountains is a blessing I will never forget. To get meat on that trip is only a small ( but nice) part of it.
Man I am so lucky to have a wife that loves the mountains as much as I do . You should have seen the look of my oldest sons face when he got within 50 yards of a 5x5 bull at a wallow but couldnt get any closer, priceless.
Awesome Pic. Thanks Ted and CONGRATULATIONS on the family hunt.
Great stuff, Ted!
Congrats Ted....on the bull and the great family.

Good Deal. All my bunch is going to LBL this next week.
That's the good stuff Ted!! Wish I could join ya for that late season hunt, but doesn't look like it will be possible. (even if you didn't live half way around the world from me ;) )
Thanks guys , yes I cant express what a joy it was to spend this time together , yes they grow fast , I still cant believe my oldest ( joey ) is 16. Seems like just the other day I was carrying him in a backpack at shoots.
Arrow in the tree is the one I pulled from the chest of the bull , I didnt want to loose it while doing all the skinning and packing. Actually while I was tracking the bull it was the first thing I saw sticking out of a big brown mound (elk) in the dense huckleberry brush, white feathers.
Funny , I spent half my life trying to get a big bull and could never do it , finally get to a point in my life I realized it didnt matter and I got one. Still does not compare to the joy I felt hunting with my family in the mountains of Idaho.
The bow is an old friend of mine named lightning , osage sinew takedown. arrow was a fir selfnocked with ebony footing tipped with a razor sharp Magnus 160 grain.
Like I said earlier , you should have seen the excitement from Joey after getting to within 50 yards of a bull thrashing in a wallow . He said he tried the Jedi mind trick to get the elk to come closer but found that wont work on elk.
Charlie, someday.
Ted-
Great picture and a wonderful time spent with your family.
Congrats.
Bryan
Ted...Congratulations on the successful family outing! Oh, and the large hooved ungulate isn't bad either!
You coming over the mountain to hunt Blacktail's later? :archer:
Ron
I would love to Ron , but that will have to be when Oregon starts giving out two deer tags , finished the deer part early on this year.
I will most likely be heading out to Idaho again to help my son joey get a deer, then I will chase kitty's for a bit. I plan on heading to Texas this next winter for a pig hunt and before you know it I will be back guiding bearhunters in the spring. So much hunting , so little time.
I plan on putting the hurt :knothead: on those ruttin' bucks in November. I'm looking forward to the late season, just got down the rattling bones and dusted them off. ;)
But first I need to bust a turkey at White River, I drew a fall turkey tag.
Good luck with the longtails!
TK
Congratulations Ted!! It is great when it all comes together, and with the family to top it off!!!
I hope to take a nice whitetail this weekend with the snaky old Osage flatbow you made for me many years ago. It has been my constant companion.
For sure the best trophy pic I've seen all year. Some things just have to wait till the time is right I guess. Congrats!
Ted-
Glad to see your still at it. Great times those with ones family, what?
Bruce
Great pic and bull! tell your son the Jedi mind trick works, he needs to keep at it:)
Will do Matt , I will keep working on it as well.
Good to see that osage bow has served you well over the years Curt.
Thanks to all
dude that is so awesome to share that, congrats
Ted you have a great looking family. I think it is so cool that you all hunt together. It reminds me of my wife's family, When we first started dating i was invited to go deer hunting with them. We all packed into a blazer to go hunt the state park. There was me, my fatherinlaw ,grandmother, grandfather, aunt and uncle. I sat there and thought to my self this is the greatest family that i have ever seen. Out of that group three have since died. What i wouldn't give to take that ride one more time.
Hey Ted,
What a great picture of your wonderful family and a very good bull! I sure hope we can hunt together again, someday. Sorry I haven't been around much but that garage has been a real monkey on my back. I still have a bow in your shop to finish. I'll get it done this winter, I hope. Talk to you in a few days.
Ray
What a blessing indeed to be able to hunt with your family. That particular outing won't soon be forgotten.
Ted,
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy...I think I just might join you this spring and who knows maybe we can share a camp in the fall as well...I love that area of Idaho.
Take Care
Ang
Congratulations Ted! What an incredible critter! Shouldn't be to difficult to convince Lois and the boys to make Idaho a yearly trip after a hunt like that! How about a photo of the "trophy" 4x6 blacktail you harvested last month to go with your bull?
Thanks Viking, I bet you will get another big whitetail in Idaho again this year. Pretty soon I would like to see you with your son in a back pack out hunting. Maybe next fall over that spring you found for that bear. The 4x6 he is talking about is a spike buck that measures 4" on one side and 6" on the other, great eating deer.
Thanks Angelo , would love to share a campfire with you anytime.
Yes a blessing not to soon forgotten, one that when and if God willing, I get to enjoy those nice fall days in a rocking chair I will look back and smile.
Nice job Ted.
Congrats Ted, finally put a face to the phone conversations. Thank you so much for the SS Snuffers, have them on some arrows and ready for caribou hunting this winter.
Awesome family and nice bull, again, congratulation.
Daniel
That must have been awesome Ted. You sounded super excited when you told me about this day last week. I cant imagine how excited you were that day. Thanks for sharing
I hope you don't mind, Ted, I'm using your picture as my new background on my puter for a while. That is just awesome!!!
Help yourself 4runr, I have it for mine as well.
