Most of us know of Doc Ed Ashby and some have been fortunate enough to meet the man.
He's been a big innovator in doing penetration testing and finding out what broadhead designs seem to penetrate best, through various mediums and such. Most lately, he's been part of the Extreme FOC with arrows and how the tiny feathers can stabilize well, in combo with EFOC.
Well, now we can give back to Doc. His last trip to the "Aussie bush" ended when his return trip caused something to go dreadfully wrong with his back. He's been pretty much laid up for weeks, maybe even a couple months now...He was hospitalized there, then to Phys. Therapy.
Nothing has helped. Best I can tell from notes I've gotten is that he's had to use a walker and can't go steps...still shooting 80# bow from a seated position on a chair... :knothead: :eek:
Today, he's off on a long painful drive to the airport in Australia for a flight to the US.
His military health insurance is not accepted over there. He has to come here to participate in the VA health system to get treatment since they can't find what's wrong over there and PT isn't helping!
He will be reportedly staying with OL Adcock since they know one another well, and OL has a single level home where there are no stairs and if I read it right, there is a decent VA facility near to OL's home.
Let's muster up some powerful prayers for Ed Ashby: For his flight home to be bearable and not worsen whatever is causing his problems, for the VA docs to find what's wrong and be able to get Doc back to 100% soon!
Prayers of thanksgiving for people like OL to help a friend in such a gracious way.

Got a note since I'm back that Ed survived the flight from Aussie..more pain than he expected.
Already has some exams started and there is some nerve damage... looks like surgery in the near future to correct whatever is going on...
Please keep prayers up for his full recovery.

Haven't heard any updates on the tests and such..might be a "hurry up and wait" process now for a while. I'm sure Ed appreciates all the prayers. Having your 220 line suddenly go south on you so's you can't walk without a walker...that is some serious stuff!
Heard from Doc Ed Ashby via email. He's got a specialist appt come the 14th but in the pain he's in..he's on "standby" for any cancellations.
Right now, it's so bad, he can hardly take the discomfort...
I'm sure prayers would be appreciated, as he's said so.
For a quicker appointment and then some resolution to the problem once diagnosed and hope for a positive outcome, with or without surgery.

Wrote to Doc Ed for an update. He had a surgeon's appointment on Friday.... they want to operate as soon as possible...date set...but have to wait on his Tricare's insurance to see if they'll approve it. Doctor was amazed he's even walking given the extent of nerve impairment from the degeneration.
Let's keep prayers going that the surgery is quickly approved and all goes well on the selected date of Monday the 24th!

Heard through the grapevine that his govt. based insurance held up the surgery... and it's pushed back till sometime in early December.
Of course, the surgeon wanted to move quickly due to some nerve issues...and that has to worry Ed.
Let's pray HARD that there will be no negative effects from the delay...and that this time is being used by God to assemble the best possible Team for Doc Ashby's needs!
Prayers, too, for Ed to hold fast and keep the Son in his eyes through this devilsh delay...
