Title: My turn
Post by: Doc Nock on May 06, 2008, 02:01:00 PM
There are so many on here in the same fix...maybe we should form a club or something... :)Terry, can we get a special forum for broke, busted outa work tradgangers?  :)

I just got notice last night that my position will be elminated as of Friday! No word on a transition for insurance or anything... so it is with a small family business.

I'd ask for prayers for the owner, my boss. He had tears in his eyes tellin me... I tried to be gracious... He wanted me to help change the company as it's been in dire straits for a good while, but while he wants things to change, he just doesn't want TO change... so it's wise for me to go and save them my salary anyway... prayers that they can learn something from my time and save this outfit...

I'd also ask for prayers to keep the advice I have given others about "Keepin the Son in your eyes" front and center of my life, now that I'm back in this leaky ole boat, too!

Hey Doc - Good things happen to good people! I for one don't believe that is by chance. God rewards those who bless others and I can't think of anybody that blesses this gang anymore for you!  I can't wait to hear about your new job that is even better then the old one. Be Blessed my friend!

You have a PM. I will continue to lift ALL of us up to the Lord. If not for the PM's and outreach I would not still be here. The leaky boat you mention just means we all need to keep bailing with our prayers. God Bless!

Thanks, folks! And I especially appreciate Benson's prayer "for all in this boat."

Those are kind words, AA, but as JC once put it about himself, I too, am but a broken, leaky vessel the Lord sometimes uses.  Sinful by nature and often willful to my and other's detrement. Only by his Grace can I do any Good.

I've been talking to some investment people/friends. They fear that depending on which party wins this next election, the plans laid out and promises being made are, behind the scenes, going to set us up in the trillions in debt with all the "programs" and "fixes" being promised.

As Benha says, we'd better get some big ole prayer buckets and keep a bailin!   :)

Doc,

Praying for your situation, I appreciate your attitude and faith that God IS in control. Continue to stand on that faith for the Lord will Bless you! As AA said you truley are a blessing to all who ask for prayer, now we stand with you asking that God show you the door he has opened for you.

God Bless.
your brother in Christ

These are emotional times, friends.  As others have faced their demons when confronted by such challenges, I too, am often weak and filled with fear.

I read your words...and tears well up. I'm reminded of many before me who confess that they're not worthy of such comments of praise...

Too often I stumble, and fail to live by Faith. But as Thomas Merton said in a prayer, below, I do believe that by trying...it pleases God.

Nothing I do will ever come to fruition but through Him. My recurring fears are that I somehow get caught in trying to solve my problems and end up not hearing Gods still small voice of guidance, and end up on the wrong path trying to use my own knowledge and skills to resolve problems.

throughout this week, there have been "mini-blessings" showing me as my time here ends, how it may be renewing to be out of a situation where the leadership wants things to change, but doesn't want to have to change... I've run the good race and I'm tired. And while old, too young to "re-tire" so "Lord, show me Your Will and give me strength!"

Thanks folks! Here's this prayer I've been referencing daily lately... and I shared it on C2's thread as well.
*****************************************
My Lord God

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.

I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it
will end.

Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following
your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you,
and I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing.

I hope that I never do anything apart from that desire.

And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though
I may know nothing about it.

Therefore I will trust you always.

Though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death I will not
fear, for you are ever with me and you will never leave me to face my
peril alone.

Thomas Merton,

1915-1968
