Title: 1930's Bowyer Neil G. Herman?
Post by: Larry m on August 29, 2013, 02:39:00 PM
I recently picked these up and would like to know more about this bowyer. Anyone ever hear of Mr. Neil G. Herman? 66" Lemonwood, silk backed. The sleeve takedown is a D limbed bow with a thin vaneer on the tip overlays. The other is flat limbed with horn nocks. Apparently at one time he lived in Conde, S.D., but ended up in Pomona, Ca. where these came off an estate sale. Both bows came with a small taping of history attached to the limb.    (http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll292/toxo-collector/tradgang020_zps65986296.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/user/toxo-collector/media/tradgang020_zps65986296.jpg.html)      (http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll292/toxo-collector/tradgang021_zps40fa6f73.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/user/toxo-collector/media/tradgang021_zps40fa6f73.jpg.html)      (http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll292/toxo-collector/ff1c465b-7257-43d2-be1e-25e42da9b373_zps4dae9d4f.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/user/toxo-collector/media/ff1c465b-7257-43d2-be1e-25e42da9b373_zps4dae9d4f.jpg.html)     (http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll292/toxo-collector/38413fc3-9aaf-4f87-9891-c003fecf8cc0_zpsa67646ff.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/user/toxo-collector/media/38413fc3-9aaf-4f87-9891-c003fecf8cc0_zpsa67646ff.jpg.html)     (http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll292/toxo-collector/4fd88452-adb0-43d5-8a33-2c1b24b1fd56_zps52c14b85.jpg) (http://s291.photobucket.com/user/toxo-collector/media/4fd88452-adb0-43d5-8a33-2c1b24b1fd56_zps52c14b85.jpg.html)

I don't know anything about Mr. Neil G. Herman, but to have that much info taped to the bows is fantastic.

Congrat    on another great find.

Yep Thanks Rick! I agree pretty "fantastic". At least I'm fortunate to have that much. This guy was obviously inspired by some talent and there certainly was some around during this period. Just wish I knew who??
Shane, I don't shoot any of the unique old self wood bows I pick up. Once they are broke they don't glue back together real well. On the other hand, some are more adventursome then I am.  :)
