I picked up a Bear Grizzly today, from research online I think that it was made in 1969:

I have a couple of questions.
1. Am I right on the year?
2. Any idea as to the type of wood?
3. I paid what I think is very little for the bow, the only real mark is the one you an see on the grip, I think it is from the former owners wedding ring. What's it worth?
It shoots great and I'm pretty excited to have it on my rack!
I'm new to posting pictures, if you can't read it the grip says:
9R17665
AMO 56"
40#
1969 it is
I thought 69 Grizzlies were 58" but what do I know.
let me guess, Shedua
cool bow
Trap
The 1968-70 Grizzlies were 56" AMO. The 68-69 were solid Shedua risers while the 1970 had an accent stripe through the riser.
Thanks Guys! I picked it up to work on my form at a lower weight, maybe try for turkey and so that my daughter will have something to grow into. It's a pretty sweet bow so far!
Nice find....great bows.......
I have one also. Shoot real sweet for a shorter bow IMO.
My brother shoots the same bow and when he does his part it groups verrrry tightly. Enjoy...
nice find.
Thanks for the replies, I'm not looking to sell it, its just too neat! I do wonder what it is worth though.
The 68-70 Grizzlies are pretty common. Usually $100-$150 range. Although there are always the exceptions. This one was listed and sold yesterday.

Great Bows. Thats the bow I started bow hunting with. it was my fathers. I bought one from Jack a few years ago and gave it to my dad since his broke.
I now have a 68. very similar bow and I shoot it as much as my other favorite bow.
