Nice bow! I love those old Howatts.
Second time today I had to check out your bow...wow! The Damon Howatt lines are unrivaled.
Very nice! Posted over on that thread. I am going to have to try a Damon Howatt some day.
Thanks guys. I've got a new string being made up for it and will post some shooting results once it is here and stretched in. I feel more excited about this bow than some custom new ones I've owned.
Awesome bow :clapper:
She's a looker.
Hopefully a shooter, too.
As far as custom goes - there was a lot of pride and craftsmanship that went into the production bows of the 50's and 60's; and by people who were experts at what they were doing.
A custom bowyer has a LOT on his mind and has to be craftsman, accountant, sales manager, collections agent, customer complaints center and phone answerer. And we all know distractions hurt the product. ;-)
OUTSTANDING OUTSTANDING they shoot as good as they look too nice bow bd
TW,
That's a beauty! Hard to beat those Montereys for looks.
Here's one I had that another member has now.

Over the years I have had several friends who shoot these bows and love em. Good strong performance!!
Dang! I got find me a Monterey. Jack, did you have a hard time getting rid of that one?
Dan,
Actually, if I remember right I only told one person about it and he decided to take it. I may regret it one day but I've let some nice Howatts go in favor of Bears.
Had to check em out one more time. I have '73 Super Diablo but I think I like the looks of the Monterey even better. Do they shoot similat to the Hunter model? I have a thing for the Bears too...the late 60's Super K's especially.
They are Hunters built with rosewood laminated risers and accent stripes on Hunter forms so they shoot like Hunters as far as I can determine shooting the two.
Any Monterey owners out there that are getting tired of looking at them?
Never get tired of looking at them, But I have a nice 50# I can let go.
