hi there i was wondering if anyone can help me identifying my new toy, its a howard hill longbow it has "shaved knuckle" writin on the top limb and the code is BHC 665194 any help would be great thanks.
How about some pics? :D All I can tell is that it is 66" long.
I can chime in here I reckon ...
"Shaved Knuckle " is the bows name...
It is all red elm lams
Antler overlays on the riser
Myrtle tips
66" 57# @ 28"
Cocobolo Riser
I may be wrong, but I think the "B" signifies it's a Big Five, and the "C" means Craig (so it was made by Craig Ekin.
HH Archery names each of its bows based on the composition of the limbs. They're all listed on the HH website. The first letter or two are the bow model. The name that HH archery puts on its bow with four elm laminations is the Bighorn Sheep. Thus, the BH stands for Bighorn. The third letter is Craig Ekin's first initial indicating that he built the bow. The first two letters in the serial number is the bow length from nock to nock. The remaining four letters complete the serial number. If you called HH archery with the serial number, they could confirm all of this information and tell you when the bow was made. "Shaved Knuckle," as someone already pointed out, is an additional name that the buyer had printed on the bow when it was made, or later. :)
