Recently I picked up a '62, 41#, 62",DH Hunter. I also have a '72(or'74),32#,66", DH Monterey. Any really great DH's I should look for ?
thanks!
i recently got a 70's era Bandito 85#@28, it's a keeper.
Bought a 55# Super Diablo for 1 of my sons for Christmas.Old 1 but looks new.
I am looking for a late eighties early ninties 80lb Hunter...
I have a nice purpleheart hunter. They made the 62" purpleheart hunter around 1995-1996. I like it a lot.
I vote for a Ventura.

I have a MAMBA Sharpshooter 20, green glass, with a 39 stamped in it.Year ????
Anyone have more than one?
Have a Super D.,want a Hunter and really like the looks of the Venturas, the Hi-Speed seems to be popular, the Monterey is one of the nicer models I've seen.

Your Sharpshooter was made in the mid/late 1950's. The stamped number is the draw weight.

Yeah, something like that....
me personaly my favorite of all Howatt's is the early laminated rosewood riser hi-speed with robins egg blueish glass 54" not 58" ....do I have one to show a pic NO I sold it a few years ago and believe me I've beat my head on the corner of this desk many times for selling that bow bd
I bought my first DH Super Diablo in '71 or '72 new. I traded it in the late 70s for a Colt revolver and bought a '73 version in 2009. I'd like a 60s Hunter though.
It is indeed a nice Hi Speed. Good hunting #
My first real bow was a DH Coronado. Did a lot with that bow. Still have a newer Super Diablo.

Here is 90% of the Howatt collection. Hard to tell what some of the back ones are, sorry. Jim

Very nice collection thanks for sharing.
Brand new Martin marked Ventura on the bay. Just as much a DH bow as any, with an interesting twist. If it was a lefty it would no longer be available.

Hey guys, long time no post!!
I am refinishing my 1st Howatt,I traded with Ray Roan for her.
Howatt Matador with VTC
ELMX-058E
70"
Solid plain Jane maple riser, dyed ebony with black limbs with a slightly modified grip.
It is rumored to have won a state championship before becoming someones pin cushion, then neglected in the back on a pick up truck or something similar
I have plugged 8 screw holes and plugged 4 inserts.
She is not ever going to win a beauty contest but since I don't have one, it will be great in the quiver
I will post pictures before and after when it is finished drying.
Anyone help with the serial # I think its a 1960, anyone know who the boyer was?
Merry Christmas to all
I got a few...not as many as Howattman I am sure, but I have some nice ones.
wow! Jim thanks for the show
I just took the rosewood/green glass '62 Hunter 41#, to the range.
What a great bow!
I also shoot a modern Wes Wallace longbow, with a FF string.
and I have to say, the DH Hunter feels as fast. Throws the arrows like darts.

I thought you folks in NY were under blizzard conditions. :scared:
...but I guess you have your priorities, huh? :archer2:
Hey Kurt! Good to see you around. I was afraid you'd turned commercial fisherman and quit slinging arrows LOL.
Jim, very nice collection!
Got a few Hunters and Hi-speeds in different weights. I could very easily carry them exclusively.( Nahh, bad idea)
Lot of pretty bows there
I don't get to shoot as much as I would like, but still have a few oldies I am refinishing and will always sling some arrows.
My Matador refinish came out like crap, milky cloudy and blotchy, so I took it back down to bare wood and re-stained it, and am putting on the 1st coat, I had been using Min Wax Wipe On Poly and liked it, but since I can't buy it anymore tried Fast Drying Poly and it sucked, so am using up the last of my wipe on
They just closed a bunch of local coastal fishing spots to all fishing, trying to make money in a small boat might be a thing of the past here.
Big brother in the form of NOAA is a very scary reality on both our coasts.
Happy New Year to everyone!!
