Title: Bear model? #2552 68" leather grip recurve HELP!!!
Post by: smalson on July 05, 2010, 10:04:00 PM
Just got a bow and would love to know more about it.

Here's the scoop:  68"  Ser.#2552  55#
Recurve.  Leather grip.  Back is brown, face is green.

Questions:
1.  What model?
2.  Year?
3.  Is the light edge on the limbs normal for that bow/age?

Here are a couple pics:

Looks to me to be a 1956 Kodiak Special

I'm thinking 55' Kodiak Special with the decal. I believe it would have silkscreens if it were a 56'.

'55 Kodiak Special.

The light edge is just where the finish (which has yellowed significantly with age) has worn off and is showing the actual glass color.

Should be a sweet shooting bow!  Check the tip overlays very closely though, if the finish has worn off there they get very brittle and need to be replaced.
