Title: Old Bow Identification
Post by: Emmons on May 03, 2010, 10:22:00 PM
Just pick this one up and I have no idea what it is.  Can anyone help?  I does have some nice zebre wood in the I-beam riser.  Limbs need straightening and a refinish but other then that it looks sound.

I'm thinking thats a Shakespeare..

I see your missing the coin and I'm sure Shakespeare had a coin on some of there bows..

Kind of looks like one of mine, right down to the markings, the lack of any decals (they were NEVER on the bow - my grandfather bought it new in '68-69), and the finish that's crazing like, uh, crazy  :)   Mine had no coin though.

The consensus was it was a Shakespeare, but I've been told by more than a few the markings are consistent with American Archery.  Maybe Wade can clear some of this up, b/c the site window measurements weren't the same as for the Wonderbow...

well actually those bows had to have been built before 1968 anyhow.Because there are no AMO standard writen on the bows(it was standard in 1968).So I would say 1965-1967 and please note Darton sold the same model same bow but may have had a plactic Darton Archery logo button in the bow ????? bd

Shakespeare built a Super Necadah that was 54". That is my guess.

That looks like the super necedah I had, mine had no coin. it was a 54 inch made in 72 if I remember right.
