Title: STORING ARROWS
Post by: MR BILL SHORTY on February 28, 2010, 08:46:00 PM
I HAVE SOME OLD ARROWS I'D LIKE TO PUT AWAY. WAS THINKING OFF THROWING ONE OR TWO MOTH BALLS IN THE BOTTOM HALF OF BOX THEN COVER WITH PLASTIC FOOD WRAP THEN PUT THE TOP HALF OF THE BOX ON. JUST WONDERING IF THE MOTH BALLS WOULD AFFICT THE FINISH ON THE ARROWS OR WOULD CEDAR SHAVINGS BE BETTER? ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS FOR LONG TERM STORAGE? JUST WANT TO KEEP THOSE CRITTERS OFF THE FLETCHINGS
THANKS BILL

I would get some small PVC pipe and cap the ends...

Cedar shavings should work, mothballs may harm the finish if there is contact with the shafting. Cody's idea is great too if you choose to go that route.

A FEW DOZEN I'D LIKE TO KEEP THEM IN THERE BOXS THAT THEY CAME IN. WAS THINKING WITH THE PLASTIC WRAP YOU COULD TAKE THE COVER OF AND STILL LOOK AT THE ARROWS

I use arrow boxes from any of the suppliers and put 3-4 mothballs in a small plastic bag and throw that in with the arrow. The moth balls will last about a year this way and protect your fletch.

Hey bowdoc, bring them over to the Moses Lake shoot and I'll take care of your storage problem.

I was doing some web searching for containers to store mine in.They make some interesting zippered containers out of clear flexible plastic, for storing comforters etc under beds. Some of them looked like they would hold a few arrow boxes.Look for "under bed storage containers".I haven't got to Wally World yet to see what they have in stock.
