I'll start.
Someone put a lot of love into this arrow around 1950....................
The plastic nock is one of the earliest I have seen-wish they still made them like that.......
The pic could be better; but you can see how the fletcher trimmed the quill end with a knife to make it flush with the cedar shaft.
Ron Roehrick asked me to post this beautiful pair of early Sweetlands tipped with period Pearson Deadheads

Jack those have some serious Mojo-thanks for sharing.
Hey guys, lets keep this going. I love to see arrows from the past. I have been wanting to copy a few old patterns for some future arrows for myself.
Bjorn, thanks for the nice comment. Here is a pic of the one and only deer my father killed with those arrows. I even have the Bear Broadhead he did it with. The picture was taken in Bath County Virginia. Do you guys know what bow that was he shot. I use to shoot it as a teenager and ended up breaking it as i strung it one day.
Great pic! Looks like a 1956 Kodiak Special to me. Airplane prop silencers, Kwickee bow quiver and bear broadheads.
I can't get a fix on the other bow.

Bear arrows in boxed set(Bear Bowhunting Outfit) with Cub(looks like black aluminum coin.)Included 4 target arrows, (I only have 2)an armguard and shooting glove. Whata think? Early 60's?
Beautiful set up! The Cub looks and sounds like it may be a 62. A few more pics maybe?

wow that looks like is a very old arrow! I like the hand forged head.
Lucas
Whats that point weight? Looks like a harpoon...what would it be used for?
I'm assuming it is a fishing arrow, but don't know how it would have been attached to a string.
Total arrow length including the point is 32", and the point itself is 5 1/2".
It came with a couple of old self bows, one of which had some very cool hand carved antler tips. It remains the best bargain I have ever had at an auction.
Joe that head looks a bit south american type to me but not possitive maybe send a pic to Wade and he'd know bd
Oh my goodness TRAP. I am gonna need a minute alone with the pics of those arrows.
Thanks for posting.
Trap, those are the best looking arrows I have seen-very tasteful and elegant.
Trap, they are all beautiful but the yellow and red ones are outa sight.

Awesome thread.
Bjorn, you'll recognize a few of these arrows since you were their caretaker for a period of time. Thanks for letting me hold them for a bit.

Very cool pics guys!
Good to see Bears and the Shakespeare's too. The Shakespeare arrow shafts were made the same way as their fishing rods of the day-pretty cool.
Bjorn, you must have been reading my mind! I have some Peasons, and Shakespeares.
But when you posted the Flight arrows, I have some signed and numbered, "Hazel Hackewith". The Footings are Awesome!
Plastic fletch, Wood nocks and Points!
Got any pics Frank?
Nice Shakespeares frassettor. I have an old Shakespeare RH300 that may be from the same era. I also have a few Shakespeare Wonderods from the 60s with the spiral wound technology.
Anybody know this guy?
The arrows were with a recurve left in a house that my buddy was contracted to clean up for a realtor. There are also a half dozen target (field) arrows of the same ilk, only with dark green shafts, no crest and green cock feathers, natural hens, parabolic. The heads are 1956, the recurve that was with the arrows was a mid-late 1960s shorty, I forget who made it. Not Bear. My buddy broke the bow by driving off with it on the car roof.
I have always wondered who made the arrows, was it this Bowbeer guy? They shoot well out of a low to mid-forties bow at my short draw.
These thumbnails lead to some BIG pictures. :D

Ah...now this thread is pure enjoyment (...'cept for trying to get the picture stuff done).
The back-story is that when I was a young 'un I used to look at all the pretty target bows in the magazines and think, "Nope, they look purdy but I'll never shoot anything but hunting bows." Funny how the years and arthritis have changed my thinking. What a pleasure it is now to hold them and to use them whenever I need to limber up for my hunting bows...nice for sharing too.

Trap: I have never seen a Bear arrow like your sea foam green one with the diamond pattern before. Super cool looking. Hand painted? Any chance for a close up? What year and model? I would love to look them up in my catalog CD and try to do some like that for myself.
Thanks!

Doc, I think that is an old Zwickey from the same era. If you click on the thumbnail, you'll get a bigger picture. Then click it again, and it gets REALLY big, so even old farts can see it. The bleeder is a cutout. As the arrow sits, the bleeder is cut out from the lower side.
geoarcher, I can't see your pics without signing in to yahoo... and I forget if I ever knew how.

I'm glad this thread came up again....I lost it some time back just when I had come across some old arrows to share. The Flu-Flu's, came in a Bear Archery box but are unmarked...and there were only 3. The #7 Micro-flite's were in an old Kwikee quiver in a box of archery stuff that I bought at and auction. I can't remember where the others came from but I thought the cresting on all of them were classic.

Tom I.
This is a great topic! There are some great looking arrows here. Ever since I saw this post, I have been cranking out some arrows that were inspired by what I saw here.
Thanks guys, I've been trying to stay off e-bay for the sake of my marriage!!
Do any of you use these arrows ? Or is it considered either not safe or sacrilege ?
walter , i have shot vintage arrows .but if I do , I always replace the nocks as the old nocks seem to become fragile ,,,breaking during a shot and that can be bad
Some great looking arrows with history.
Didn't they make slingshots?
Its hard to see but there are 2 different style boxes here. Can anyone see??

Also, the Bear emblams are different, one on top is smaller than the one on the bottom.
