What year is the most collectable for Kodiak Mags and what woods are the most desireable
I think the '64 is the peak, followed by '65.they have Brazilian rosewood and bubinga with a curved accent stripe.I do like the old school looks of the '61 and '62 though.I believe it was some time in the mid-'60's that the import of Brazilian rosewood was banned.
I thinks the '62 is by far the best looking of the Kmags. The Rosewood riser with the Gray glass and the smaller tips are what do it for me.
Probably the most difficult to find if you are collecting is the type 1 1963. Take the 63 dog legs out of it and the 61-65 depending on taste.. The 62 in it's Brazilian Rose wood is without a doubt very special.
Really hard to beat the 64-65 Kmags for looks but the 61-62's have the more petite grips.
Newbie here, and the first to admit that Bear dating is confusing, but didn't the 71-72s look similar riser-wise to the 65-66 years?
Rick,
I'm kind of new at this too. The 65 has a curved stripe handle the 71 is straight. I have both as well as a 66 but it is factory camo.
Top to bottom. 65, 66, 71, 73-75,73-75, 73 Super Mag, Gainseville mag, Gainseville Super mag

I would love to have a 66 in factory camo. In fact Jack you have the greatest collection of Mags. I love them all. Someday.....
I gotta go with some rosewood in the bow be it 62 64 65 I think the rose added just that certin touch of beauty. However have you ever seen many of the rare and beautiful 1966 Golden Rosewood Magnum ? bd
