Title: Super Kodiak
Post by: kwikeekwiver on January 22, 2010, 01:31:00 PM
Hello all,
I have a mid '70's Super Kodiak with Fascor, do you measure brace height from the deep part of the grip or from the back of the riser? I have a '66 Tigercat that measures from the riser. My newer Grizzly suggests from the Grip. Does the older bows all measure from the riser?

Brace height is "normally" referred to the distance between the string and the deepest part of the grip throat.

BTW, those mid '70's SKs are all pretty good shooters.

I have a '76 SK with the fantastic smaller grip, and it likes a brace of 8.25".

I measure my Super K.'s from the deepest part of the grip to the string. 8 1/4" usually works good.

yes on 99% of productin built bows the brace would be from the throat or deepest part of the grip where the web of your hand rests to the string bd

Thanks,
I got this bow used this week, I think the problem is someone put the wrong length string on it,because I can only get it as low as 9 inchs per the deep part of the grip ???

Yes,
The correct size string makes a big difference, I have my 8 1/4 brace now, I was baffled for a while, but I guess that is one of the things you can run into when you buy a used bow.
