Title: 1972 Super Kodiak in the woods
Post by: Novaln1975 on October 05, 2009, 11:30:00 AM
Just came back from my first official big game hunt. Did not harvest any white tail yet but the walk in the woods with my 1972 Super Kodiak, 60", 55#, equipped with a period correct 4 arrow quiver (plastic top and single spring arm) holding less than period correct CX heritage 150s with weight tubes, topped with 1964ish Bear Razorheads. I did stump shoot a few times and am proud to say that every arrow shot was dead on center. I felt good and confident. Saw many signs of activity but no deer. I stalked the white tails on a 150 acres of private land in the middle of a huge forest near Sutton Quebec where there is a abundance of deer. Off season, a walk in the woods, like I did this week, I would at least see one deer, but not this time. My girlfriend followed me from a distance for a bit with her camera. She took a photo with the time delay during a break showing the bow and quiver.

Here is a more artistic photo of me near an opening in the woods where the deer come to rest.

Yes... well, thanks, I guess... and she is silent as a mouse in the woods. She has no taste in men though... That's a good thing.

Just today I was shooting my SKodiak 1970,it is only 45#,it is all I could find for now,but I like it; it is a hard shooter despite the low poundage with some Eritage 150 and 200 grs BH.I would trade it for a similar '70 lh in higher #'s

Simon,

Great pics. My wife commented on how cool that first pic is. Wondering how you achieved those colors? Looks like a vintage photo.

Just came back from the woods today being the last day of the bow exclusive season, still no luck but a doe went «prrrrrr» at me several times and stomped her hoof at least 4 times before vanishing in the brush. She must have been at over 100 feet from me. Saw 3 porcupines, 2 of them were welling at each other on the same branch, many ruffed grouse that flew in every direction with that loud propeller sound (not too good for stalking deer I imagine...) Great day indeed. Now I have to share the woods with the gun crowd in 2 weeks...

Casey

In photoshop, in the top menu, go in «Image», choose  «Adjustments» then «Hue/Saturation». Play around with the saturation. In this case saturation was in the negative. I like to desaturate every color individually by choosing a color instead of the default «Master».

I always finish with a Brightness/Contrast in the same top menu (Image)

Thanks for the compliments on behalf of my girlfriend.

That black and white artistic photo could be an album cover for Neil Young.  Thanks for sharing.
