Title: '59 Kodiak Disease
Post by: bswear on June 29, 2009, 08:48:00 PM
Guys,

I have a '59 K,55# 64" long that has visited the doctor in Seattle.  I have a couple of custom bows(Widow and Fedora 560)but I am somehow developing the urge to make the '59 my "go to" bow.  I am wondeing if I am alone in this madness.  I know you guys have them and shoot them regularly but this seems odd to leave the newer customs hang and shoot the '59.

I am getting a '62,55# 60" bow and just wonder if you all think it will stack at my 29.5" draw.  I shoot a clicker because my target panic became unbearable so it's 29.5" legit.  Am I crazy or what?  The mojo is pretty strong!

Brent, you can send that '59 to Hartville and solve the problem. Shoot that custom all you want  :bigsmyl:

Seriously, I just picked up a '59 Grizzly at Comptons and I have a really nice custom Hill Country bow sitting in the rack. For now the Grizzly gets all the action.

Shoot my early/mid 60's Kodiaks with regularity. Can't remember the last time I shot the DreamCatcher.

Your '62 should be good for 30+" without stack.
I envy you to have a 55#er enroute.

I've shot my 59 Grizzly all year. 3D somewhere every weekend. Pulled the custom built bow off the wall a couple weeks ago just to see if I could still shoot it. First time I pulled her back it snapped the lower limb. Go figure. One year old bow. I'll just have to keep shoot'n the Grizzly.

Glad to know I'm not alone. Dad always shot Super K's when I was a boy and then later the takedown in camo.  Traded for a new one about every year.  Last year at 69 years he could no longer shoot his compound so I bought him a 67 1/2 Super K in 45#. He had a 55# the year they came out. Needless to say, he was a proud papa the day it arrived at his house. I am sure some of the mojo comes from our time together.

Customs don't come with Bear Archery "MOJO".  Sell them and buy more Bears.  Feed the need.

You can always hang up the Bears in 2050 and start shooting the customs then. After all, they do need to age fine fine wine.
