How many Trad Gang collectors are heading to Compton the 19-21 of this month?
Several of us will be with the ABCC broadhead displays in the room adjoining the the dinning hall.
There will be many other great old collectible archery items on display in addition to the broadheads.
Hope to see everyone there.
dang it Wade I work two weeks a year for Tom in que'bec and its on those same dates.Maybe one of these years.bd
Doc - I was kind of afraid that the bear hunting might fall during the Compton dates. A guy just can't do everything. Good luck with the hunting.
I wish I was. Won't work this year with the kids schedules & school. Maybe next year for me too.
Hey Wade- If you run across a set of white tipped number 1 Bear TD limbs with gold lettering and the dimpled wedges 67- 72# on a B let me know, would you please? Looking high and low- you know how it goes. Grant
Not a collector, but have some bear stuff, i plan on being there Harold
I will be there, Wade, and look forward to meeting you.
Ray
Wade as far as I know will be there....I will be spending most of my time talking with guys....
see u there wade....
Cody
Grant - Will let you know if some dimpled heavy weight #1 limbs show up.
Harold & Ray - Looking forward to meeting you guys. Anything you are looking for in particular that I might be able to bring along?
Just look for the fat old guy with tri-focals who is about 70 pounds heavier and 30 years older than this photograph...

Wade thats one heck of a Minnow in that pix, lol
Don't know of any thing, but you never know.
I'll be at the "Pesty Bird Iron Works " Tent helping my Brother peddle his ware, hope to meet you.
one thing i could use is a arrow side plate for a mag. a riser if you can come up with one Harold
WOW a much younger Wade.. where the bow ?...LOL....
Harold - The fish I caught with that minnow was so big that we never got a photograph of it as we couldn't find a camera with a wide enough lens.
Sorry to report that I gave up all the mag risers and accessories a few years ago. Doc might be your best bet to have an extra one.
Cody - It took two hands to hold that slippery rascal up long enough for my buddy to get a snapshot. Do I have to scan another photograph of one with a bow?
Wade so did you shoot with a bow ?.. I was thinking you used a fishing pole....
Cody - The limit on Paddlefish now is 1 per year by special permit which is a drawing...
Years ago the limit was 2 per day and 4 in possession. For many years we shot them with the bow during the summer season and snagged them during the winter season. In the summer we went on 2 day trips and nearly always shot our limit after two very long hard days in the sun. Great fun and great eating fish, about 25% of their weight is delicious white meat.
I probably should have posted this photograph earlier as nobody could possibly recognize me from this one.
I shot this paddlefish and dozens of others with my old 55# Kodiak Magnum (self-camo), which you can see in the boat with my partners's bow, a rod and reel and some other gear.
Note the end of the paddle on this fish was broken off, probably by a boat propeller. Not a good photograph by today's politically correct standards, but you can see the bow... You can also see the arrow hole about 1/3 of its length up from the bottom.

Great pics wade......
Wade.....I'll be there with the displays.....would like to get a count on how many members with a count on displays they are coming with so I can make sure we have table's for all. I know this is a last minute deal but if they have table skirts that would be nice to make the room and displays look better. I just use roll of camo fleece that works good.
So any ABCC members that see this please let me know how many table's you might need. I wish I would have done this the last newsletter. I can bring two tables but my displays stand alone and need 13'x 2' floor space
I don't want to sound like the boss but I would like the image of our club to be high in everyone's eyes. I would like to keep all the trader tables that don't have displays on them to the back of the room so that it keeps the room looking neat for all viewers. That's where I'll have mine but if you have a cover on your table and want to put them under that, like with arrow boxes etc.
Remember space is laid out as to what kind of Broadhead you hand me when you arrive and any violations will cost you one head from your display that I pick. .......................just kidding..........had to say that.....but
Remember to bring a comfortable chair and I'm looking forward to talking with all, please stop by.
Wade you should bring your bow fishing rig and you can hit the river that the club sits on. Huge Cat's

When you see these displays you found JJ and me.
great pics Wade. tasty fish and caviar. In AR a legal length female has about $150 worth of roe. Unfortunatly they are doing well as a species due to channelization and dam construction.
I wish I could make it to the compton shoot. maybe next year
I will be there selling bows & foam target backs.I only have 20 foam backs this year & there will be no more.Look forward to seeing you all there.
BearQuest first week ends that weekend. Not sure if I can manage a drive by on the way home or not. See ya there if I can.
Shaun - What day are you leaving for BearQuest?
Looking forward to seeing you all!

Cody
Wade, I am heading out Thursday the 11th and picking up Nate in Indiana for the drive out. I think we are done hunting on Friday the 19th then driving back from Quebec. Not sure if it will work to swing by Compton on the way home, but will do it if possible.
I plan on going this will be my first time their.

Not really a collector, but will be there with my eyes and ears tuned to anything Bear. Will look you up at your booth Wade.
What are the chances or interest, in a scheduled. Get together and shoot part of the 3D course. Naturally with our favorite vintage Bear bow!
Hormoan.. give me a time and what day and I sure the hell will shoot with you...
Brent give me a call on my cell. We're coming up on Thursday afternoon. I'd enjoy a 3d shoot with all vintage gear!!
Brent - I'd love to shoot with a group of guys, but when I've taken my gear, I've found there is never any time to go shoot. It is nearly impossible to get away from the display area, trading, meetings, etc. I'd especially hate to miss out on that rare Bear item that someone brought for me and have some other collector snatch it while I was out shooting... LOL We should at least try to schedule a time to get a photo of as many guys as possible. One of these years, I'm not going to take any displays with me and just enjoy the whole event as a shooter / spectator.
I know what you are saying Wade, it is tough to sneak away from your booth. You guys with the booth's would have to pick the time that works, if one does. I don't remember what time your part of the building is open. So I guess if there is a free hour let us know. :campfire: :archer:
Brent,
Several of us collectors who post on Trad Gang will be camped right near the dinning hall. Most of us are usually up every morning and some of the first in the dinning hall when it opens. Right after breakfast we open the display area adjacent to the dinning hall and are generally around there all day. It is usually a little slow the first couple of hours in the morning. It begins to pick up after 9, so probably anytime around 9 would be good for us for a Trad Gang photograph. I will never be far from this display of Fred Bear's Personal Wooden Arrows and many of his broadheads that he made from 1932 to 1964.

Hey guys... I will be around some time sat as I am coming for the day.. So I hope or maybe get one of your guy cell phone number as I would like to be in the photo as well.... or just if u guys need me pick up any thing on the way down there... If one of you lads want to send me a PM of your cell number I will add it in my phone..........
Cody
Wade......go ahead and shoot all day...I'll take care of anyone looking for you with that first ever prototype Bear.. :p :D ;) I might not be able to shoot, with this neck injury I'm only able to get off a half doz. arrows before a long break. Its hard to get any practice in at all before a hunt. But sure would like to get together to talk and photo opt. I do take a good picture. ...from the right........Hink :archer:
:biglaugh:
Wade,
The display box with Fred's arrow reminds me of the story in Bob Munden's book of one of the first times he met Fred. They were both in the same hunting camp, perhaps Grousehaven, and, while hunting, knowingly wandered unto posted land of another club's. Fred loosed an arrow at a deer and missed, but never found the arrow. Sometime later, an ad appeared in the classifieds of the local paper advising Fred Bear that he could claim his arrow by stopping by the club. He had his name on the arrow. Munden doesn't say whether or not Fred risked
claiming his arrow. Talk about leaving a calling card while trepassing....
Tom I.
hey Wadester without me hijacking your thread what's the odd's of you coming to Denton in July ? I know there will be a ton of Al's closest friends and hunting buddies from NY.I spoke with Chris yesterday on the phone and he will be there for sure himself.
I'am going to try and make it this year pending on how sales are going between now and then.I do not believe we've seen each other sence maybe you and I passed by one another in Northwest Archery several year ago ????? let me know.bd
Tom - I love Bob's story about Fred's lost arrow. I think every arrow should have the owner's name and address on it.
Doc - Hadn't planned on Denton this year. Only planning to make it to Compton. With Al and John both gone, I'm thinking I need to do more while I am still here.
Would guess the Michigan Bow Hunters will have a memorial service for John Grumley at one of the shoots this summer or fall. If it is in July or, I will offer to display John's Collection's which I believe would be a nice tribute to John and all the years of effort he put into preserving his father's bows and the early bows of Bear Archery.
If Denton falls close to the MBH function, I might take off for a few weeks on a road trip. Does Denton fall toward the end of July this year?
Wade, Denton Hill is the last full weekend of July; 7/23 thru 7/26.............Shick
WOW!! :) Doc ,Mabye Wade, whould that be a awsome year at denton! If you two show up your ears will fall of before its over . :notworthy: The people around the campfire alone will be huge
Man, that was some show with the big venders tent down thursday night, my brothers tent was right by the big tent and it got nocked down both nights, finely threw both tents in the garbage and set up in the open, didn't do much selling but had a good time.
Got to meet Rick Enos, what a great guy, didn,t get to meet a lot of tradganger as we were allway picking up stuff and trying to clean it up good enough to sell.
Maybe next year Harold
Compton was great.. Even with the rain friday.. I got to spend time with the ABCC Guys.. which I joined Thanks to Wade and Bill ( they talked me into it LOL) No not really thanks for the help guys...
