Well I will be heading to the Baltimore Bowmen Tradition Classic in mid May. My buddies and I were going to do a round of shooting with our 62 Kodiaks. Another buddy of mine came over about a month ago to trade me a rifle that I had my eye on. He picked my '62 as compensation.
I was wondering if anybody out there had a right handed 45-50 pound '62 they were willing to part with so I could still "do the round." If not, I will just shoot my '62 Grizzly with them.
Please email pics and price needed to migrabill@msn.com
Thanx-
Bill

TOTALLY unacceptable. Kodiaks ONLY! :biglaugh:
You know I'm kiddin' Bro'. Do some fancy talkin with Roy (450Marlin). Maybe you can sweet talk him.
Someone else has one for sale too. (No, not me, I'll PM ya')
Roy - You been called out....I think we've "done business" before...
Saw one or two of them on e8ay
Jack-
I searched E8ay- must have missed'em. Could you PM me the auction numbers?
Thanx-
Bill
Bill, I will be emailing you shortly. I can't believe I've stooped to this! CKruse
Dag gone Cam! You OK? Looks like you've been clearing the stable.
cam no PM's we all what to see what your selling.bd
I'm raising funds for a new toy for me and my 12 year old daughter. Rest assured I'm hanging onto a few. I also need a set of 10 ply truck tires right now for the Dodge diesel! I get a little sick everytime I price a set! CKruse
Also, I've cooled down on **** due to higher commissions, hassles w/no money orders, etc. Selling them on here is more like keeping them in the family! CKruse
Cam I was getting ready to sell some of bowdocs one step cleans shines and protect bow polish on gbay a while back. But they kept sayig I need a PP account. That means they are making even more money off me then before and I ai'nt going for it.I quit selling and buying there sometime back.It really sucks now because on top of the auction fee's you gotta cut them another 3-4%.bd
This kiddo is turning into a real hunter! With 2 turkeys and one deer down in a year's time, she's well on her way. She will be bowhunting (with wheels of course) this fall. I'm saving to get us one of the little Kubota RTV 500 side by side utility vehicles. I know, not too Trad! But, it will be a blast to work over our hunting property with, haul stands, cut wood, clear brush, make trails, etc. Right now it's worth more to me to keep her involved in managing our hunting land and having fun with dad, than to have a hundred bows hanging in the basement. I will never stop collecting, but sometimes priorities will prevail! CKruse
Here she is with her 3rd place finish in her first 3D shoot. She still shoots her recurves and longbows, but in order to get her up to enough weight to effectively hunt with, she got a compound for Christmas. I have full confidence that by fall she will be good to go! CKruse

Bill, I apologize for hijacking your thread. I figured everyone was wondering what was going on with me as of late. No need to put me on suicide watch! :wavey: Just thinning the herd way down! CKruse
Sounds like a man with his priorities straight, right there.
They grow up and are gone too quickly.
Cam,
Excellent pics of your girl. That is great that she's enjoying hunting and shooting so much at a young age.My 19 year old daughter started out shooting a recurve when she was little and kinda grew away from it(dang boys!)but she's gotten a deer in each of the last two gun seasons here in Michigan. She shot her first,a seven-pointer,while sitting on my lap so she could see out of the blind we were in.It was great. She has it mounted and hanging on the wall in her bedroom.Gotta love those girls!

That's awesome. It's easy to get caught up in the challenge of traditional bowhunting, but we need to remember where MOST of us started out. Gun hunting. If we apply our standards of a challenge to our kids and everyone around us, in about one more generation we will be extinct. Now that doesn't mean I'm ready to share my archery season with the crossbows here in MO, but I do support whatever gets you into the woods, provided it is legal, ethical, fair chase hunting! CKruse
Cameron......Memories are the best things to collect anyway......they made alot of bows.
Your in the running of Dad of the Year!
;)
Absolutely great teenage girl B-Room pic! My daughter is 11 and has taken the hunters safety course and I can only hope her room looks like your daughters!
I saw one of those Kodiaks on the Bay...some guy called Plastic Egg or sumpin' was selling it. :D
Sure is good to see some common-sense gals growing up out there. Around here it seems like froof city. Bleaghhh.
Killdeer
I'm happy to hear that Cam
I was very happy to buy that T/D, but sad thinking you were having a fire sale.
My son is not as interested as he used to be, but my 19yr daughter is sneaking off to my club, while I am work. lol
Congratulation's on keeping the real "tradition" alive!!
Kurt
Ps I agree with bow doc, I wanna see them to.
This forum always amazes me. I put the word out that I was seeking a '62 for Baltimore and I got 4 offers from gentlemen willing to sell me their bow. I have decided to buy Cam's. SOme people wanted more and some wanted less; his suits me well. Only drawback is 2 open unfilled holes. I may fill them, or I may throw a kwikee kwiver bracket on them. I shoot my '65 Kodiak real well and it has holes in it with a kwikee on it. I think the holes take away astetically but it sure doesn't seem to effect the shooting.
Cam's looks like it has a beatiful , still wet, grain to it and the weight is perfect.
Thanx to all that offered to help. Here are some pics of Cam's (soon will be mine!)

Bill,
I'm bringing mine (yours) but whether I can pull it or not remains to be seen. If I can't shoot anyone may borrow it for the shoot.
Thanks to all for the comments and compliments! I'm doing my best to keep her occupied with useful, fun, decent things - in a world full of everything else!
Kurt- things have been better around here, but I'm not ready for the bread line yet. Sorry if I gave that impression.
Doc- now you see it, soon I won't!
Bill- you will like this little bow. Although she's seen a little abuse, it's like most 62 Kodiaks in that you look at the spot, hit anchor, and the arrow is THERE! Just amazing! CKruse
looks good aside from a couple of holes.
what better than someone ya know needs to get rid of abow at the same time you need the same bow.
Cool for you Bill!
WOW! What a great thread.
First of all, Bill...Call 3Rivers and order part number "5340 Riser Inserts". These are the brass inserts with screws for the Kwikee bracket. We can fix you right up. If you don't dig it, I'll take it off your hands, 'cause you know how I like Kwikees (yes, pun intended).
Second, and most important, Cameron...I know exactly how you feel. Family is first, and much more important than some pieces of wood and glass. They make/made more bows, but He only makes a few moments in time you can truly relish with our children in the big scheme of things. Trading bows for those moments is a basic "no brainer" in my book, and I commend you and others for doing it. I know mine are "on the block" when the time comes if they need be. Enjoy every second, and by any means possible. No need to explain to us, but PLEASE share what you can with this "family".
Jim-
I ordered the inserts, also got a kwickee kwiver bracket with screws coming.
Cameron (and anyone else with young ones),
Does your daughter's shcool participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program? My granddaughter in Ohio is in it and from what I've heard, a fair number of states are involved. They shoot Genesis zero let-off wheelie bows, adjustable from 10-20 pounds, fingers and no sights. It sounds like a decent program and should be easy to switch over to traditional. I'am not sure how this thread went from wanting a 1962 Kodiak to the kids and back to the Kodiak.
I do not have a 1962 to show you guy's pics of.I sold it several months ago and miss her alot.I kind of wish I had it back but the money was well spent on tools for my shop.
OK thats may story on the 1962 and I will land another one day I'am sure.
Now back to the kids. There is just not enough room on this thread for me to tell ya'all what I think about getting kids into archery.I am not a gun hunter at all only archery so I have to keep them involed in archery in order to get them involed in hunting. And since you asked and I'am pretty damn pround of them all. This would be my number one and number two grandsons weekend before last at their first 3D's ever.2nd and a 3rd place in their age group and bow class.Which by the way were both shooting with Bear bows of course.Small man shots a new type kids 3 piece take down and the number one grandson shoots a 1964 Bear Kodiak Magnum...bowdocs grandsons for sure. And again Bill thank you for posting this thread about 1962 Kodiak and thank you Cam for having things in order and posting about 1962 Kodiaks kids and the love of them both...you guy's rock bd.....whoooooops Killie I do not want to forget to mention the two girls in the background both grandaughters whom both shot and love archery and I'am working on the hunting part now and two good son-in-laws in the pic too... (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/moseslake09032-1.jpg)
grandson number one..bd (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/moseslake09037-1.jpg)
Nice, very nice,
If that Mtn goat shot on the cliff behind #1 grandson is from that white patch 1/2 way up the hill, they earned those trophies.
That looks like a awesome weekend.
Bill that is a beautiful bow.
here is a couple of my 62 I hope to send her to Doc someday. :bigsmyl:

also, I hope to have some pics of my son shooting soon. he is just 2
You guys are free to talk about kids now - my bow is on the way.
BILL
From 3Rivers, order a set of brass quiver inserts, You will have to drill those wholes a tad wider, I think 21/64, to install them. When done, they look like a factory job, and better than raw holes or covering them with a Kwickie bracket. Any time you want to pit a Kwickie Quiver on it, it is ready to go.
Once drilled, before you screw the brass inserts in, swab the hole with epoxy. This will seal the wood from moisture.
Just be careful to not drill all the way through the riser like I did with my Black Widow Diamond Anniversery. :banghead: :banghead:
Jack.....drilling to far reminds me of a guy at work that did the worst I've seen, wasn't drilling a bow but it just poped up when I read yours....he was millwright at work he hit his thumb with hammer then got the bright idea to chuck up a small drill bit in the press turn it on and place his thumb nail against the drill bit now turning fast, apparently he thought it would stop as soon as it went through the nail boy he was wrong by the time I got down there after hearing the oh Sh*Ts and a few more noises the bit was all the way through the thumb....
:banghead: :banghead:
I guess the Morel of the story...sh*t happens
The inserts have already been ordered from 3 Rivers. I think I probably will go with a kwickee kwiver- I like the one on my '65.
When you have lemons make lemonade
When you have holes make a kwikee kwiver bracket.
Bill, the bow went out this morning. This thread took on a life of it's own, with a lot of redeeming qualities. Let me know how it shoots for you. I was simply amazed by how it did for me. Thank goodness I've got her big sister to play with in the future! CKruse
