That sweetie looks like a 59 model (...I think    :D   ), and if so, it is one of the best shooters around.    :readit:

It's a 59 or 60.  Have any pics of the tip overlays?

Very nice shooters.  And one of Bear's nicest looking bows of all time.

the brown marks are just string wax.
i got the bow from my moms uncle.  he took very good care of it.  he told me he would let me have it CHEAP! as long as i shot it.  he said it was to nice of a bow to let sit around and collect dust.

It sure has a copper coin. A 1960 wouldn't have a copper coin would it?

Some 60's did have the copper coin. Just look at the number of Kodiak Deluxe and Kodiak Special Deluxe that have the copper coin. If the tips are paper phenolic it's a 59. If they are fiberglass it's a 60. Tough to tell from the pics, but they look like they are glass. CKruse

I'd say they are glass also. Very nice.

I'am going with an early 1960 Kodiak Special...copper coin would be correct for jan. feb. and march of 1960..about end of march first of april the coins were switched to aluminum.....great shooting bows right there.....bowdoc

Thats a 1960 with fiberglass tip and riser over.If those were the paper ones on a 1959 they would be stained...those sure look like fiber to me.............bowdoc

the 1960 Kodiak Special has the belly glass capped over the riser all the way down to the arrow self. The 1959 like what is pictured here has the wood curve inlet on the riser going over the top of the belly glass. this is the distinguishing difference between the 2 years. glass tips and riser caps on the back side tell us it is a late '59 model, but a 59 model nonetheless.

yep Don, that is what I would call a 1960 Kodiak Special, have you ever seen a 62 inch version of this bow? I am wondering if Bear made any at that length, I have never seen one.
