Title: J D BERRY Bow
Post by: wadde on October 26, 2007, 08:35:00 PM
I have a JD Berry 64" reflex deflex. Very nice. Has all original paperwork including letters to and from Dan Berry before ordering the bow. Also the original order form and diagram. It is a Serpentine and has JD Berry signatures. Has Cobra skin on the front with Elk antler tips. Birdseye Maple core. 56#@27". Purcased new for 795.00 in 1977 as paperwork shows. Two questions. Are JD BERRY still around, the letterhead says they were in Iowa. And was wondering what the value of the bow may be today. 795.00 was alot of money in 1977 so you can imagine how nice this bow is.

They are nice bows. I almost bought one once at a blanket trade for $150, but it had a small crack in the shelf so I passed. It is hard to say the value, I'd guess about $250. It all depends on finding a buyer.

Hello wadde

This is Dan Berry here, how have you been doing? You must have the date wrong, the bow had to be build sometime in the early 90s, We lived in Washington state then and still do. James is still building bows today, you can give him a call at (509)299-3029 or go to his web at  www.Berrygamecalls.com (http://www.berrygamecalls.com)  once there click on J D Berry bows.           Dan Berry

I don't guess you could get a better answer than that.  This is the place for it.

You are correct, I had some paperwork mixed in from another bow purchase in 1977 and the JD Berry was actually purchased in 1993 for 795.00.

I own and shoot two Berry bows and find it hard to shoot others.  Just can't beat the quality and beauty.
My buddies use them as wall hangers due to their beauty. I tell'em it's a waste.  It's like saying you don't want to be with that women because's she's too beautiful.
As for the prices are really not that much higher then what you paid.
I don't think you can buy a better bow for even close to the money.
I see guys paying hundreds more for other bows they wind up trading later on.
Very really see soemone trade a Berry bow unless he needs the $$.

I just don't use the bow anymore and I will sell it to the first person that offers me 800.00.

One of my regular shooting buddies has a Jd Berry and I think it is top notch. As a group we have some nice bows and the Berry stands up to all of them. Biggest issue is I may have to Kill him to get it.lol

Steve I doubt anyone would buy the bow for that price of $800 or even $700. It's way to close for the cost of a new one. Bows of that age seem to sell around $400.
Good Luck.

Amazing bows, but I have to agree with Jim here!  Even that is higher than they've been going for.
If you're trying to sell it, put it in the Classifieds.  This is a discussion forum.  ;)
