I was wondering what most people point on is with 3 under. For some reason mine seems less then what I read about.
On all my bows it seem my point on is about 28 yards.
I shoot 3 under and use my pointer finger In corner of mouth as anchor
It will vary to a degree depending on the shooters draw length, bow's efficiency and the arrows finished weight. What is your setup?
40 yards is pretty typical for me on most of my setups.
Mine is about 30 yards when I do everything correctly like keeping my head up and not moving it toward the arrow. Lots of factors including how high your anchor point is on your face--like you I use my index finger about even with mouth--middle finger and even ring finger even with mouth will bring your point on even closer, but I find I struggle with alignment and back tension with a higher anchor. Longer arrows=closer point on, short arrows=farther point on... I do find arrow length makes a much bigger impact on point on for me than arrow weight excluding longer distances.
Rifle indeed mentioned something I forgot, yes arrow length is also key.
Def would like to hear your setup specs
mine is 30-32 yds with long arrows and heavy points
I setup all my hunting and 3D bows for a 25 yard point-on. My windows from 25 yards and in remain consistant and under the pressure of a shot in the field, i won't have to rethink my point of aim.
22yds. High anchor, middle finger about corner of mouth, thumb knuckle tight under cheekbone. 29 1/2" arrow bop.
Depends! I shoot different arrows for different purposes. If I am going to be shooting long distance I will also vary my anchor point. I can shoot point on anywhere from 25-50 yards with the same bow depending on arrow and anchor.
I set up all my bows for 25 yards point on.
Depending on the bow; I vary the arrow length, weight, and nocking point to achieve this. I also shoot three under with my middle finger in the corner of my mouth. Being a gap shooter, this reduces the amount of gap for the closer shots over a point on out there at 40 yards or so.
...switched to 3 under about two years ago or so.
Point on is about 31 yards. Length of arrow will and where you anchor will change your point on, as I suspect you know.
I bet if you used middle finger instead at your anchor, your point on would drop 4-5 yards less.
I anchor w/ pointing finger to, but behind canine, a bit.
I shoot mainly 3D...
For my regular hunting rig, my point-on is about 25 yards. My arrows for this setup are full-length carbons and about 640 gr off a 50# bow. If I'm at a 3D shoot, where distances are usually 25+ yards, I'll switch to an index finger anchor, which puts my point-on at 35 yards.
For my homemade bows, my gaps are smaller & point-ons shorter. My last one came in with a 20-yard point-on range for 28" wood shafts weighing in at just under 600 gr. and pulled with about 45# of draw weight.
