Title: Broadheads hitting right
Post by: Cyclic-Rivers on July 30, 2015, 08:43:00 PM
I thought my arrows were well tuned and flying good until I put some broadheads on. The broadheads are the same weight as the field points.

The field points are hitting in the bulls eye with good flight but the broadheads are hitting about 4 inches right and 2 inches low at 15 yards.

There is no noticeable poor arrow flight but the arrows are pretty quick so I may be missing something?

Is this a tuning issue?

I am a right handed shooter.

Shooting a Big Jim Thunder Child.  55 lbs at 29.  My arrows are GT 55/75 cut to 29 3/4 with 225 up front. I draw 28 3/4.

I have an antelope hunt in 4 weeks and would like this resolved before then.

reduce by 25 grains and see if everything comes together or try building out your strike plate slightly , nock point down a 1/16th . I would make the nock point adjustment first , then adjust for windage.

What broadheads are you using?
Although they may be the same weight as your field points broadheads are longer so will have weight further forward Compared to your field points plus making your nock to point tip longer. This may weaken your spine and show an arrow right in your case.
Hope that helps.

I have the Grizzly instinct heads.  This week I will try adding a bit of material to the side plate.

Just an update.  Thank you to everyone who helped me.  I split a matchstick in half and put it under the strike plate.  It has done the trick.

Thank you for the help and good luck wishes.

I would check and see how a bare shaft impacts in relation to a fletched arrow.  I have been amazed at how much better my accuracy has been since I stared bare shaft tuning.
