Ok well after my 3D shoot last friday I have decided I am definitely going back to 3U. One of my reasons for switching to split is that I get an inch longer draw with split than 3U. I guess having a 26 1/4" draw is my form of little mans syndrome, because it bothers me. I have tried all kinds of stuff to extend it and nothing feels right unless I'm at this anchor point. It almost seems like i am too far forward on my face, but if I try to get back to my last tooth or so on my jaw I feel very unstable and overstretched. Not to mention it puts the nock end of the arrow way to the right of my eye and that does not work for me.
Here are a couple pics of my anchor. Does anyone think this is too far forward?

You have what God gave... a 26 1/4" draw. You seem to be anchored a tad beyond the corner of your mouth which is a common anchor point for the most part. Trying to extend to a point beyond that particularly if it is uncomfortable, (unstable and overstretched as you put it)is only going to cause inconsistent and irratic shooting in my opinion. Practice good and consistent form and you will be fine. If you like the looks of a size 12 boot and wear a size 8 would you buy the larger size because you'd like to be a size 12?
Brian,
For what it is worth, your draw length 3 under or split should be the SAME! Your pictures show a pretty good position BUT as I say, it should be the same if you are shooting split. Look at the string in your pictures -- it is in front of your eye and if you were wearing glasses, it would touch the center of the lens.
Too many seem to think that draw length is the end all be all of shooting BUT good positioning (alignment and form) is FAR more important.
Very frankly, the ONLY difference between 3 under or split is the "aiming" picture it gives. Form remains the same AND release remains the same.

As far as anchor, I have or at least am coming to terms with the length. And the boot thing is correct, I would buy the 8s but with a frown LOL. I have settled on where I am at now. The time is near for me to just stick with it again.
Arne,
What you said about draw length being the same is what I thought as well, but for the life of me there is a difference and shooting split it feels like i am anchoring in the same place.
The comment about the draw length being the end all, well you are right about all you said and honestly I was a better shot before I found out what my draw length was. I never really knew but once I actually measured it I have spend the last 6 months trying to stretch it out and messed my shooting up pretty good. Now that I am settling back to my comfort zone my shooting is getting back on track as it should be.
Anyone got pics of their anchors
I have that same draw length thing. The best i can figure at this time is that with split I was doing something more with the hand and maybe bicep on string side due to finger pinch or string angle. My form seemed a little different between the two as was the feel of the anchor even when I was anchoring to the same spot on my face. I would go automatic more vertical 3 under and more canted split. It used to make no sense to me when I would change back and forth in the same practice session and not be able to figure out what I was doing so different between finger locations. Now I think I was doing something with the hand and turning my face more into the string to compensate for pulling a longer draw with my hand or something. Still a work in progress, but after shooting three under for a while and struggling to go back split, I am finding my draw length and feel of things more the same. I think that is progress, but sure is frustrating to not be able to shoot well.
Brain, wear an armguard!
Don't bad about your draw length, at least you don't have 24 3/4" draw length like me. Every body say I shoot darts. You anchor in same place as me.
Yes..proper alignment is paramount....and what ever draw length that creates doesn't matter....it is what it is...
Stay after it... :campfire:
Brian, don't worry about it. Most guys don't draw as far as they think anyhow. My draw length is right at 27". My wife is the same and she is a lot shorter than me.
Looks good to me Brian! Very similar to my anchor point only I shoot split.
My draw length is the same as yours and (like you) I tried to extend it - this caused all sorts of grief for my shooting and only improved my length by a slim margin. I'll take 26 1/4 hitting where I look every time over anything greater than that with poor accuracy...
I was wondering who would notice the hits on the arm. That comes when I try to stretch the draw :) . I have settled on the anchor you see in the pics and I am back to shooting consistent and accurate again. Thanks everyone.
I've tried three under but my bows are noticeably louder.....am I doing somehting wrong?
No...most bows tillered for split will be louder shooting 3 under....the limbs are returning to brace as two different times creating the noise.
