Title: Wife left-handed, right eye dominate?
Post by: britt on January 26, 2013, 10:50:00 AM
Goodmorning, we need help. My wife is left-handed. When she would shoot, the aroows would hit to the right, one or two feet. Arrows matched bow. Well we found out she is right eye dominate. So I bought her a right-handed bow but its hard for her to shoot right-handed. She says it awkward and doesn't feel right. If we stay with left-handed bow would her left eye take over? Any suggestions? Stick to left or right-handed???

If she has a desire to shoot right-handed, my guess is that after a week or two, it will seem as natural to her as left-handed does now, and she will shoot better than she did left-handed.   It does feel awkward at first, though, so I think a person has to want to do it enough to put up with that for a while.

Have her shoot instinctive. Then eye dominance does not matter. You are not sighting then. Like an in-fielder throwing to first base the ball just goes there. They do not care if they are right or left eye dominent. Focus on the target, aim small, the mind will make adjustments. Make sure good anchor point so bow hand is only variable.

Have her change over.  It will not be that bad to do and well worth it in the end.
