I use a tab for shooting all the time but what about when it gets cold do yall have a good pair of gloves you can shoot 2 or 3 shots with. Something you can get a pretty good release with.
Put hand and tab into your pocket with a Hot Hands handwarmer in it. Anyone can shoot a couple of shots without a special glove. I do wear an old brown jersey work glove with the three fingers cut off and put my shooting glove over it. Then I stick it in my pocket with the handwarmer.
NC generally doesn't see bitter temps until the 3-D shoots crank up in Jan.-Feb. I shoot a glove, but the knit gun-shooter's gloves with no finger stalls should accomodate either I would think. Some even have the retractable "mitten" feature that can be pulled on/off the fingertips. And I always keep a couple chemical warmers in a muff strapped around the waist. I've also used golf/batting gloves (string fingers removed)on both hands, but with these you seem to give up a little "feel".
I shoot with light jersey gloves under a tab year round, get funny looks at summer shoots. But its worth it late season.
Raven I think thats a good thing I have some gloves I cut the fingers out of I my just start wearing them with my tab all the time
I stump shoot January through April here in NE PA. I shoot a tab and put my hand in my pocket with a handwarmer between shots. On my bowhand, I wear a thinsulate lined glove. Works good for me.
I shoot gloves so I use a jersey glove or thin fleece glove with the fingers cut off under it, but this year I started shooting the Black Glove from Kustom King and it has a fleece lining that actually keeps your fingers warm, sometimes too warm when it's not so cold outside but temps down to the 20's this year were not much of a problem!
I bought a six-pack of jersey gloves this evening for $6. Cut the fingers off and wore it with my Dura-Glove. My hands stayed reasonably warm considering it was -2 degs as the sun was going down. My string fingers did get cold after about 10 mins., but my bow hand stayed nice and warm.
I added the Kustom King Black glove to my wish list last night. Might have to get one....sound nice.
I take a mechanics glove with a leather palm and material backed, then take a regular leather glove and cut the front of the finger tips out and super glue these to the tips of mechanics gloves.
Like mentioned, no glove ..just a hand warmer in your pocket. When I hunt in lower temps, this is what I do. Tried different gloves, cutting fingers out, etc..but none worked as good as a 89 cent handwarmer.
I shoot with a tab over Sitka shooting gloves. The gloves really fit the form of my hand well, so I can shoot about as well as I can with no gloves on. I can actually reach into my pocket with these gloves on and pull out some change or my keys. They aren't the warmest gloves in the world, but definitely warmer than my bare fingers. Oh, and if it's cold enough to wear these gloves, I will probably have hand warmers in my pockets too.
Go to a golf store and find a set of winter gloves. They will come as a pair. I just got a set and really like them. Been shooting them the last couple of weeks and doesn't take long to get use to them. I shoot with a tab and it fits nicely over them.
I buy a few pair of calf skin roping gloves and shoot with them. It takes a while to find them that are the correct thickness and that fit perfectly, but they're out there. The smoothe unlined thin leather gloves. For hunting I dye them with leather dye to make them camo. They work great and are very similar to a shooting glove,to the point where I now use them all the time.
I have those fingerless gloves with a fold-over 'mitten' flat - we always called them smokers mitts. I just have my shooting glove inside the warmer glove. Not sure how you would do it with a tab...

I have been using the mechanics gloves and a Bateman tab(elastic) over glove. Or the tab with the large oring . Maxx
