Hill bow shooters are often kind of snap shooters. I released at about 26 1/2" draw but very consistently. Accuracy was good.
I shot with a buddy at Grayling and we discussed how Howard shot, and he was also a student at Bob Wesley's school. He explained in Bob's words how Howard anchored. I changed things up a bit and Bingo! I draw 28" and accuracy is good until tired, but the panic just disappeared! Crazy how a little different picture gets you on track so quickly. Been shooting longbow 19 years.
How did you change your anchor?
Come on, spit it out man, lol
good for you
nice!! I am in the process of beating TP too. I won't say that I have it totally licked, but I am winning!! Congratulations man!!
After reading this, I looked up more information on how Howard Hill anchored and found a description of a four-point anchor. It really helped me a lot. I am also recovering from target panic, but I think my form got all out of whack in the process...apparently I was creeping my head to the right (RH shooter) instead of bringing my drawing hand straight to my face. Boy, what a difference in consistency! Thanks for posting this.
