Title: Please critique my form
Post by: Marc Morton on March 04, 2012, 09:03:00 PM
Hi All,

here are the links to three videos of me shooting - one from above and behind {at least as good as I could do by myself}, one from the back and one from the front - I am shooting a Samick Sage, 35#, 28" DL, Beman MFX Classic 500s, cut to 30" with a 145gr field points and 3 5" fletchings - I shoot three under -

Back -   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIdXsiPkBQ0&feature=youtu.be

Behind/Above   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGHqPvLR6G4&feature=youtu.be

Front -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKKHeurbE7g&feature=youtu.be

Thanks in advance for any help!

Marc,

I don't really see anything that really needs critique.  Your draw and follow through look pretty good.  Your string hand at release is moving back and not "flipping" out as was mentioned in another thread   :)

Is there something in particular that concerns you or that you want to work on?  How is your shooting?

shooting is "ok" meaning that it is not as consiste3nt as I would like - when I miss I typically hit upper left - between 1 and 2 on the clock face - I rarely miss right....I would just like to be more consistent

Marc,

Clarification? You are a left handed shooter and your misses are to the left -- that would be between 10 and 11 on the clock face????

If you watch your second video, the one from behind/above, watch your bow hand at release.  See how it moves to your left?  Ideally it should move SLIGHTLY to your right -- the other direction.  That tells me that at release, you are loosing a little back tension.  This COULD be the reason you are hitting to the left.

no, I'm just retarded - I miss right - I was multi-tasking when I typed that -

I move my arm to the left because I looked at a lot of different videos and the "alignment clock" and started thinking that my shoulders weren't in alignment...when I move towards the left it feels better - kind of like it's more stable

Marc,

Not sure if Javi PM'd you or not.  If you are somewhere close to him, he probably can help out.  Person to person is ALWAYS better than the typed instruction I can give you.
