Title: bare shaft tuning
Post by: babs on August 04, 2010, 01:53:00 PM
I was wondering how you guys bare shaft tune. I shoot three bare shafts and see what the arrow is doing at the target. Right now my shafts hit right where i look but have a little nock left, so I'm gonna cut a 1/4" off and try again. I'm shooting around 20 yards. I would like to know how you guys bare shaft. I also fletched up three arrows and paper tuned them and they show a weak arrow also. I got a hole in paper with a tear about 3" above and to the left. Thanks brad

I like a little weak arrow (slightly nock left) and mine were slightly nock high but shot exactly where I looked.  When I fletched them they shot like lazers.  I wouldn't worry about a little weak spine.  Fletch them up and see how they fly.

If your fletched arrows are tearing a hole 3" up and left, you need more tuning.  I would work on the string nock point to get the up and down out of it first, then fine tune for proper arrow spine.  It takes a little time, but it worth the effort for hunting arrows.  Have fun!
