If you're aiming for the bag, you are likely to miss. If you're aiming for the bullseye, you are not likely to miss!

Aim small miss small.  Pick a tiny spot and you should hit the bag.

TRied some 30 and longer in my back yard tonight with some new tapered cedars. funny thing is for me, when I am out in the woods it seems like 30 yards is spitting distance and I hold for a 1/2 second, usually less, but in my back yard it seems like a half mile.  Then I draw, push my bow hand at the target slide straight into anchor, hold for at least one second, analyze my aim tension and follow through.  Think about it, try to get a mental image of the last shot, and then try to do better and shoot at a smaller spot for the next. Some of the dozen at a time groups could fit in about a twelve inch circle and some groups had some drifters that would not.  At least I did not hit the garage tonight, I did split a couple of the dozen so I am down to ten already.

I shoot at 30 yds. I blow a balloon up about the size of my fist and stick it fast to the bale with a twig. I only shoot one arrow and I shoot until I pop it. The setup I am using at the moment is a Hoyt Dorado with stock 35# limbs. Carbon tech Whitetails with 145grs. up front. Some days I get a lot of exercise, some days not.

                             Good shooting,

Shoot using only 1 arrow, and mix your distances up instead of running off a string of arrows at 30 yards, its hard for your brain to be programed when it has not seen that distance or should I say sight picture all summer. Mix in the 30 yard shot every 3rd shot or so and in a few weeks, as good as you are hitting at 20 right now, you will be nearly as good at 30.

Andy,
Took it back to 35 tonight.Had the balloon dancing around for awhile, pulled a couple shots that just made me shake my head, then finally put one together that flew straight to the "POP" I got some exercise but it was fun.

glad to here you r having fun its allways important though if you r pulling shots somewhat regular thanid sugest going back down to 5 yard blank/ blind bail . and working on that form drills a bit more . distance is all fine and good , and sometimes fun as well but if your form has some holes in it than you should work that out before going long. all you should be thinking about is aiming at distance and yyour shot form should be consistantly automatic and  not what u think about at full draw.

good luck hope you work it out . let us know how your doing.  :campfire:

Andy, try an intermediate distance first.  Go to 25 yards and shoot until you are consistent there, then move back 5 yards.  5 yards seems like nothing, but it makes a world of difference, especially if you are shooting a very heavy arrow at low velocity.  Also, like others have said, put a very small spot on your target to shoot for.
