if i shoot an arrow with 100 grain insert ans 100 grain field point would that be allowed ,because ive heard you have to have at least 125 points? thanks.
Chuck, if the particular event requires 125 pts..only the use of 125 gr pts will be checked....doesn't make much sense but that the way it is...lol.
Fortunately a lot of places that at one time required a minimum of 125 pts, have pretty much done away with the rule.
I don't really think that extra 25g would make a whole lot of difference.
You can tune to that by altering brace hight or by changing either the thickness or firmness of your strike plate.
I havn't personaly heard of a rule like this in any of the shoots I've taken part in,but if those are the rules then you just have to work within them.
Best of luck.
I think that the insert counts as shaft weight and the point weight is the point weight. I don't think you can use heavier inserts to pass as point weight. Another thought is to use the 125 grain points and find a lighter insert to keep the same tune.
I assume you have your inserts glued in, if they were installed with hot melt you could just change the inserts. Next time you might consider using hot melt, I use it on some of my carbons, I use a hair dryer to melt the glue, had no problems doing this (just don't leave the heat on to long).
