Title: shelf cut past center
Post by: Neutron on December 20, 2009, 01:46:00 PM
Bought a late 60's Damon Howatt in very nice condition.  Having a lot of trouble shooting consistently.  Spines not behaving like they should all the time. Just measured it and its about 3/32" past center on the shelf cutout.  I have been shooting off the shelf.  I think if I have a perfect release all most all spines fly ok to good but if I torque the string any tiny little bit at all on release or my form is a little off the arrows spray all over.  What can I put behind the sidewall rug plate to improve arrow flight?  I don't have any peep tubing which is one recommendation I have seen.

I have used a round toothpick cut 3/8" placed over the narrow part of the grip. Also have put one perpendicular on the shelf, arrow only contacts 2 places.

The "spiderweb" silencers actually have one good use.  Cut the legs off leaving the main body of the thing.  The thickness is just about perfect for putting behind the sidewall plate just above the high part of the shelf if the shelf is radioused.  NOT the narrow part of the grip unless that is where the high part of the shelf is.

You need 2 points of contact that should be at the same time (place) one on the sideplate and one on the shelf itself
