This might be old school to some of the dead eye shooters on hear(Terry, Rod, etc). I have always tried and hear "corner of the mouth" when talking about anchor. I bought in to the double anchor and it helped a bunch. But I always will have one or two an inch or two left or right of the group. Today I was shooting and for some reason pulled my fingers past the corner of the mouth and wedged my thumb knuckel behind my jaw bone, then brought my nose in contact with my cock feather. I broke the nock off two arrows at 20 yds. I was hitting high, but I think it was because I was drawing the bow farther than with the corner of the mouth anchor. I took it out on my 3d course and hardly any left/right problems. Just need to readjust for the extra draw length. I thought it kinda cool. maybe most of you guys already know this. You new guys need to know . Don't get caught up in the thought that you have to anchor/corner of the mouth. This might get moved to shooter's forum, but I was kinda blown away with how much diffeance in made in my groups and wanted to present it to a larger audiance. Don Batten
Great stuff, Don. I have been experiencing the same thing. I've been working on my form and alignment for about a year now and I'm very happy except I fall apart a little when I get tired.
I also use the thumbknuckle behind the jaw bow and my feather just touches nose. My draw length increased about an inch and a half. I hit my anchor then begin to pull just a little (this is very small, just fractions of an inch) and stop holding the string. I always shot good under 20 yd but this is really extending my range. It is fun, isn't it!

I don't know why people think they have to anchor in the corner of the mouth, for me its harder to shoot that way.
If you get any better batman, we won't have a chance this year. LOL

I've been playing with a double anchor, I'll have to try the nose on the feather also. Thanks for the tip.
A guy who goes by Glenn has been recommending that anchor behind the jaw bone technique; I just tried it and couldn't agree more. I think part of the reason it works is it's so much easier to keep your draw hand from moving on the release. If you're locked in it tends to saty where it belongs. I get much more consitent results with the jawbone anchor and corner of mouth - I'll have to try to nose to feather techique, could be even better.
Yep...and double anchor is a great way to make sure you get full extension and proper alignment. Good for you!!!

Allthough it's not a double anchor, I've always anchored with the crook between my thumb and pointer finger hooked on my jaw bone. I tried the corner of the mouth thing and it just didn't feel right, I wasn't consistent either.

Proof's in the pudding; you find what works best for you and stick with it. consistency=comfort=consistency. Usually it comes as an epiphany.
I recollect the time I shot using a flashlight to illuminate the target. Couldn't see the arrow at all, nor the point. Nor any part of my bow for that matter. Shot a group I didn't think I was capable of. Things changed from there-on. My accuracy improved, my groups got tighter.
...and I reaped great rewards from learning all over again how to re-fletch and repair arrows.
The problem with the old anchor in the corner of the mouth technique is that many people are not getting fully extended. It just depends on your own physical makeup. It works for some, but I think a double anchor works better for most.
When anchoring your nose on your cock feather it helps to turn your knock so it is a little upward.It keeps you from slumping to get to your anchor and keeps your head/neck straighter.It hurts like h#ll when the string slaps your nose.I've been shooting like this for a while and when I do it right it works good.
